Guest guest
I have an 8 year old, Golden Retriever, service dog patient that is 4 weeks post-TPLO left hind. The patient is allergic to fish and corn (as well as a number of other things) and has been on Flaxseed Oil capsules from the referring veterinarian for skin as well as joints. I have been reading that Flaxseed Oil is inefficiently converted to EPA and DHA, only about 10%. I was wondering if anyone had experience with other sources of EPA and DHA rather than fish oils. I have been looking online and there are a couple human products (PureOne and Ovega-3) that are derived from algae, but these products have sorbitol in the capsules. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
