I just started yesterday and let me tell you I can barely use my arms today.

My triceps just won't cooperate ;-)

I'm here!! I The eating part is simple for me because I started following

the Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle eating program 4 weeks ago and the Body

for Life program is much easier to follow.

I've got 3 boys, two of them special needs(autistic and epileptic) who are

out of school and home full time. I know what you're talking about as far as

juggling kids, and workouts and eating. All it takes is PLANNING! I'm

serious.

Hey ! :D

Good to hear it's going great for you, how on earth do you manage to do it?

For me, it's ALWAYS been my diet that lets me down, I self-sabotage myself

without even thinking about it and I've just had enough with it but I'm doing

good so far and I'm determined to stick with it and prove that I can do it.

My arms don't ache yet, that will probably be tomorrow but it's my chest and

back that hurt right now. Oh well...I'm used to that feeling, especially after a

leg day LOL

Sally.

Sally,

As far as the eating goes, I set aside time on the weekends to plan my meals

for the upcoming week, shop for ingredients, and I do batch cooking on

Sunday. IE: cook all of my chicken breasts for the week, cook all of my

brown rice for the week, cook all of my oatmeal, prepackage all of my snack

veggies in ziplocs, and such. THEN I assemble meals, one tupperware gets a

chicken breast a portion of brown rice and some steamed broccoli. Snap the

lid on and just nuke it when I need it. It makes following the diet so much

easier. And it doesn't take any more time to cook 12 chicken breasts than it

does 1 or 2 if you have a large skillet.

For me with the meals already made ahead of time I have no reason to self

sabotage. I usually ONLY self sabotage a diet if I haven't planned ahead and

prepared something to eat for myself. Here's my eating plan if you'd like to

look at it. <http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=dg9p3f35_0dsfnmstn & hl=en>

For me I thrive on simplicity and routine so I think this program is going

to be an awesome fit.

Good luck!!

I don't plan a week ahead, but I do " mass cooking " when I am running low. With

both me and the spousal unit doing this " healthy lifestyle " thing, it does make

it easier. 4 pounds of hamburger at a time, a 3 pound bag of chicken

tenders......cut up a whole turkey breast..........roast a 10 pound beef roast.

2 cups dry measure of brown and wild rice mix make ALOT cooked up. LOL It's

been 4 1/2 years since we embarked on this lifestyle and I still weigh out our

meat portions and measure most everything else. I cook our eggs separately in

the morning because I have a little more protein added to mine than what he

does. that way everything is right, not a " guesstimate " . You have to do what

works for you. This works for me. :>)

I'm new to this. I'm not even into a week. I am familiar with the Body for

Life book (I think its been in the house collecting dust for a few years).

I'm not where I should be with working out but that will come in time.

Summer is a bit difficult when you get invited to BBQ's and have them! I'm

realizing there is a big gap in eating from lunch until dinner. I'm

starting to get headaches and feel a little weird. I assume it's because

I'm not eating enough. I have tried to back off on the soda, I know that

really has helped me in the past to lose weight. I need to drink more water

too! Now that I have said that I'm off to get a glass of water!

Cheers, Michele

Michele,

No, no, no... I find summer and BBQ'ing the EASIEST time get my grilled foods.

Just like any other time of the year, you have to know what is good for you and

what you need to avoid. A burger BBQ'd has a LOT less fat than its pan or flat

grill fried counterpart. Boneless skinless chicken breast is not toooo hard to

get off the grill. Even if others are hosting the BBQ, chicken or burger is a

likely meal.

Steak is phenominal on the grill. As is lean pork, lean ham, buffalo burgers

(if you can find them) and other summer treats.

Grilled veggies... Oooohhh... I love them... Green, red or yellow peppers

seared on the grill. Grill baked potatoes. Yummy! Naturally sweet corn on the

cob, asparagus, squash, onions and more... Wonderful tastes to explore.

If you can stay away from the hot dogs, the fatted skin of the chicken, and

smores, just about anything else can have the fat BBQ'd right out of it.

So now... Re-position your thinking to the positive view on your summer

challenge and know that BBQ grilled foods can be GREAT for us BFL'ers.

Have a BeautiFuL 4th of July!

Remember...

Progress, NOT perfection!

I miss Stubb's. Stubb's barbecue sauce that is:

http://www.ilovestubbs.com/flash/site_main.html

Low in fat and surgars its a great choice.

I used to marinade a batch of chicken breast and grill it up almost every

Sunday for a week of good eating.

As I recall, most of his sauces are pretty good in both meanings of the

word.

,

When I lived in Austin in my much younger years I used to frequently eat at

the actual Stubbs Restaurant. Best BBQ you could ever hope to eat. (and on

many nights they have live music too)I love the sauces you can buy in the

store too. I don't live in Austin anymore so I have to make my own

renditions of their bbq now. MMMM.

  • 1 year later...

I started the Holiday challenge a week before it started. I was just doing my

own 12 week challenge. I started off at 205lbs. The first week I lost 7 lbs.

Have stayed pretty close to 195, but my pants are really loose and I'm actually

starting to see my abs!! I'm finishing my 4 week this week and I'm thinking

about taking a 1 month picture. I can definately tell a big diff, especially

with my shape. I'm starting to get the V shape. Very excited! Would anyone

mind if I post what I've been eating to see if I'm doing this right?
