Guest guest
Bear had a severe fracture of her femur about 4 months ago. I was very concerned about quad contracture which did not happen, which is good because they did not come back for rehab for several weeks after the repair. However, she developed a grade 4 medial patellar luxation which was repaired about 3 weeks ago. Now the owner is noticing that the rear leg is " bowing to the side " . It's difficult to see, but I believe Bear is externally rotating the LR leg while walking. She will be starting UWTM again next week (had done this from the fx repair until the patella repair). I am considering trying to bandage the leg in external rotation during her visit to encourage her to subconsciously internally rotate the leg. I think this is called tensor bandaging. Is that correct? Do you know what I'm suggesting/mean? Do you have other suggestions? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eX0b8RiiUw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldhH6IobzqE & feature=plcp & context=C313befdUDOEgsToPDskLEf3v-6M_S2jRxPZsHrpys -- Christie Carlo, DVM, CCRTCertified Canine Rehabilitation TherapistSecretary for American Association of Rehabilitation VeterinariansAvondale Veterinary Healthcare Complex (fax)
