Guest guest
HiI will be seeing a Chihuahua for the first time this Saturday with a diagnosis of chronic Elbow subluxation. I was hoping to reach out to the list for help. Can this be braced? Is this a must surgical to improve? Any advice would be appreciated.ThanksAmy Flannery MS PT CCRP Amy Flannery MS, PT, CCRPCertified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner Animal Rehabilitation and Fitness 316 3rd AveAlpha, NJ 08865 phone fax e-mail aarf@...web animalrehabilitationandfitness.com From: VetRehab [mailto:VetRehab ] On Behalf Of bert_dvmSent: Monday, February 13, 2012 4:04 PMTo: VetRehab Subject: Bicepital tendonopathy I have an 8 year old, overweight yellow lab with pain on shoulder flexion/elbow extension and an increased abduction angle. He clinically has a weight-bearing lameness on the affected leg. I have recommended rest and did a laser treatment (goal 8j to target tissue) to the bicepts tendon origin in the shoulder. I am planning on seeing the dog back at the end of the week for a reevaluation and repeat of laser therapy. In addition I intend to prescribe mild stretches and begin a weight reduction protocol but I am not sure how long I should wait to start eccentric exercises such as downhill walking or step downs. Thoughts? This is my first one of these. a
