Equal access to opportunities requires that one also accept an equal share of responsibility. In this case, to repay the loan granted to them. Whether that individual should have ever pursued that course of study and applied for that loan is another issue entirely. It would seem that this particular individual did not have a sufficient support network who could guide them accordingly.
