Page Elliott is an excellent DVD, I would also recommend going to dog shows and sitting ring side and talking to breeders and judges. most are experts in their chosen breeds and are willing to educate proper movement for their particular breed. You can go on infodog.com to find shows in your area. You can also seek out your local kennel club and find a whole room of breeders & judges who would be willing to point you in the right direction Wells CVT CCRP Subject: Dog gait and locomotionTo: VetRehab Date: Monday, March 12, 2012, 8:50 PM

Thanks for both sets of tips. I also looked at Amazon.com and they don't have

the Dogs in Motion book/DVD in stock. You can order directly from the website

http://www.vdh.de/dogs-in-motion.html

They will ship it from overseas, and the currency conversion works out to be

about $75 plus shipping. I am thinking I might order it.

If you want to pursue this path, you'll be much better off going to a large specialty show for your breed of choice. I've been doing dog shows for many years and find that the general level of knowledge at "all breed shows", among exhibitors as well as the majority of judges, is not what it ought to be. Very widely disparate views are held by people of equal repute in many breeds, so ask for a lot of opinions. And look for the people who aren't offering their opinions freely without request. The best mentors I've ever had were the ones I had to look for.

Onofrio.com lists the shows held by this superintendent only. Infodog.com lists shows held by many different superintendents (the group who runs the shows for the kennel clubs). If I can help anyone find information about dog shows, I'm happy to help. I personally am involved in the sighthound breeds.

Here’s the link that I sent Dr. Zink to for the text.http://www.ourdogs.co.uk/acatalog/Showing___Judging.html I also told Dr. Rick Wall and Dr. Mike Petty about the book as well as Dr. Jan Dommerholt. The DVD lasts over 3 hours. It has structure with muscles attached in beautiful pictures.Truly worth every penny. Also, Dr. Zink recommended to me from the following link: http://www.dogwise.com/ItemDetails.cfm?ID=DAN107 DOGSTEPS - A NEW LOOK, 3RD EDITIONby Page Elliott Publisher: Fancy Publications3rd Edition: 2009 Paperback, 126 pagesISBN: 0944875734Item: DAN107Ships the next business day.Summary: Back in stock! This classic on the evaluation of movement and gait will help you to a better understanding of dog gait through cineradiography - " moving x-rays. " Up-to-date scientific information in an easy-to-understand format! She told me books have been written in the past with incorrect information about gait, but that this book is correct. Hope this is helpful.Take care Ellen From: VetRehab [mailto:VetRehab ] On Behalf Of waghabptSent: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 10:16 PMTo: VetRehab Subject: Re: Dog gait and locomotion Thanks for both sets of tips.
