Guest guest
We use the inflatable " e collars " that go around the neck like a doughnut. We have two different sizes. They work GREAT to keep the head slightly elevated (like a life preserver for the head) and keep the ears out of the water. We have one dog who would get some water in her ears within 30 sec of getting in the pool and then she would not swim, just hold still and shake her head. With this device she swims for 30 min. I hope you can figure out what I mean. If I were more electronically inclined I could post a picture, but I'm not (electronically inclined) Pamela Mueller PhD DVMwww.animaltherapycenter.com What are you guys using to protect ears while swimming in the UWTM or pools. I have a beagle that swims in our UWTM. Once the water gets in her ears, she shakes her head. Then I look like I have been swimming with her! We purchased a " waterproof " snood for her and it worked great at first. I don't think these were designed to be submerged underwater so it has started retaining water instead and we are now back to the head shaking. With her ears are confined in the snood, I'm not getting soaking wet but her ear still are. Any suggestions on another product we can try? Guest guest
i make a neoprene ear cover that goes over the head ( i just happen to know how to sew) so it does not get wet, and goes tightly around the ears and under the neck so it does not allow water into the ears, and if they shake they don't get hemotomas. there is a company somewhere in the US that makes something similar, but for the life of me i can't remember who it is...but i can tell you it works great and i use it for many dogs.. i would google ear protectors dogs, you may find it tania canine wellness centre inc canada
Guest guest
Tania,DogLeggs used to make the Swim Snood, however, they are no longer making any of the more custom products I designed. I am the founder and designer of all the DogLeggs products to this day. DogLeggs still carries the Aural Hematoma Snood, as it is an inventoried product and it works beautifully. I designed it because a clinic was using the Swim Snood for Aural Hematomas. Neoprene does not breathe and should not be used for any diagnosis where air circulation and wounds are involved.Should anyone need a custom designed solution, please feel free to contact me. I and DogLeggs experienced a hostile takeover by our business partner and his investors in October 2011 and I was locked out of the building on 11/8. I am more than happy to help anyone with a coverage solution or make recommendations for a solution, even if it is not something I designed, I am familiar with most products on the market today.Regards,Schon ----------------Schon A GrossPast President DogLeggs - therapeutic and rehabilitative productsReston, Virginia i make a neoprene ear cover that goes over the head ( i just happen to know how to sew) so it does not get wet, and goes tightly around the ears and under the neck so it does not allow water into the ears, and if they shake they don't get hemotomas. there is a company somewhere in the US that makes something similar, but for the life of me i can't remember who it is...but i can tell you it works great and i use it for many dogs.. i would google ear protectors dogs, you may find it tania canine wellness centre inc canada
Guest guest
All, Contrary to what was erroneously posted earlier, DogLeggs continues to make Swim Snoods as well as other custom products. And because of the effectiveness of the Swim Snood as a solution to the exact problem posted, DogLeggs is planning on offering a Swim Snood Bundle, made up of four sizes (small through extra-large) that will cover a majority of dogs and selling this bundle at a unit price discount to veterinary/rehabilitation professionals. However, if a custom size is required, two simple measurements are all that is needed to make it - for the same price as the standard size. You can view the Swim Snood at http://www.dogleggs.com/swimsnood/ . Contact DogLeggs at or info@... for more information. I do use these at the practice where I work part-time in rehabilitation and they really do work.
