LMHO over Jerry's impromptu swim!

Sounds like a very nice day. Even if you did snub poor Elmo. LOL

Challis

My day? My day was wonderful. We spent it outside this morning, having breakfast by the fish pond in the back yard, then we took a drive to our "new" home to find out where things are, how to operate the emergency generator, how to prime the well and sump pump, how to take the boat into the marina for the winter, and the quickest way to get to town. OK yes Jerry did all that while I sat my abundant posterior in the yard on a chaise sipping iced tea and talking to my aunt. She cooked and I made "real" lemonade. That was about the only work I did all day unless you count hauling myself up off of the lounge to get on the boat to go back to the parking lot work. Came home, canned some "stuff" for the pantry and went for a walk/hobble around the block with him. It was overall a very relaxing day, peaceful, quiet, and just simply fun. A couple of fairly funny incidents though, the first one was on the way across the lake to the house, it is so pretty up there and Jerry stood up to take some pictures of the fog over the mountains and fell out into the water, I was laughing to hard to help him so my uncle had to circle around twice until Jerry could hook his leg over the side and haul himself over, for some reason he didn't understand why I found it so humorous. Then we were sitting around the table getting ready to eat and the phone rang and rang and rang, Jerry looked at my aunt and said, "do you want me to get that for you?" She said, "Its not our phone, I have it right here next to me." Ring, ring still and then nothing. We all sat there wondering what it was, my uncle checking for calls on his cell, Jerry checking for calls on his, nothing. A few minutes pass and ring, ring again. I was incredibly uncomfortable on that bench and got up to go inside and take a Baclofen, pick up my purse and hear ring, ring again. I opened my purse and found Chloe's toy Elmo phone that apparently was acting up and ringing every time I moved. I felt like a fool and decided not to say anything but instead to just play dumb. I went back out and sat down, a little while later Jerry asked if I had any Tylenol and I told him it was in my purse. He grabs it, opens it and we hear ring, ring-Jerry grabs the phone and pulls it out saying guess what everyone, Elmo wants to know if he is invited too.

Apparently one of the girls had stuck it in my purse and I hadn't seen it or heard it until today. Remind me to thank them for the chance to make a fool of myself when they get home tomorrow. My gut tells me it was Charity because I remember her telling me before they left yesterday to make sure I called her on my phone. Oh well, we all got a good chuckle out of it

I don't know if it is state or federal guidelines, but apparently there are no co-pays for a childs meds. Strange isn't it.

I love okra, however I am a minority in this house. It might sound nasty but I fry up some bacon and onion, put the okra in and saute it for a bit and then chow down. YUM

I love it, and cook it similarly; spent many summers in New Orleans,

where my aunt taught me what one does with it. (we are not orthodox)--nothing nasty about it--just plain good food! Love to you,

RE: !!!!

Then we were sitting around the table getting ready to eat and the phone rang and rang and rang, Jerry looked at my aunt and said, "do you want me to get that for you?" Hello Auntie,

Your aunt taught you how to cook it? Who was your primary teacher of culinary skills, oddly enough for me it was my grandfather as well as my mom. My grandpa taught me how to make massa sovada, prego no pao, and francesinhas. I loved to cook with him and for him. My mom cooked alot but very simple dishes like mac and cheese, shepherds pie, and goulash. I have been experimenting with food as long as I have been able to reach the stove and through a lot trial and error have gotten pretty good. If you have a favorite recipe, would you mind sharing it with me. I am a recipe addict.

Two off the top of my head I would love to have is a true jambalaya recipe and one for cooking a brisket so that its nice and tender but not nasty greasy. And if you don't mind, might there be one that you have for fruit salsa? Much obliged.

A couple of fairly funny incidents though, the first one was on the way across the lake to the house, it is so pretty up there and Jerry stood up to

take some pictures of the fog over the mountains and fell out into the water, I was laughing to hard to help him so my uncle had to circle around twice until Jerry could hook his leg over the side and haul himself over, for some reason he didn't understand why I found it so humorous. I felt like a fool and decided

not to say anything but instead to just play dumb.

I'll have to ask my neighbour (and landlord) for the jambalaya one, he's from N'Orleans you know...the brisket thingy *I* did was I cooked it in liquid veeeeery slow. I'll see if I can find that recipe for ya...it was SO tender that everyone (especially myself, since it was my first attempt!) was amazed!!!
