Guest guest
, Your post creates a number of questions. 1. I am confused why the owner would allow the dog to from June to February, non-weight bearing? 2. What are the results of the orthopedic examination? Where has pain been localized to? 3. What are the radiographic findings? 4. What if any pain medications is the patient receiving? 5. Why does the surgeon not feel surgery is warranted at this point? With the protracted NWB lameness I would suspect that your patient has considerable muscle contracture in the hip flexors and probably stifle flexors. Contracture is different than muscle spasm so I doubt muscle relaxants would be of benefit. Rick Wall, DVM
