Guest guest
Hi there, My first time posting! I'll be seeing a 7 year old lab with a chronic CCL tear (TPLO on other hindlimb 2 years ago) later this week. He has concurrent lymphoma (palliative care), so surgery is not a viable option. Currently is on tramadol for pain management. I typically use low-level LASER as part of my treatment plan for CCL dogs but hesitate to in this case with the popliteal lymph node living nearby (do not have ultrasound or accupuncture as an option at this point). Has anyone dealt with similar? Avoid LASER, or (if warrented on exam) use for palliative pain control if owner elects this option after discussion of risks/other options? Thanks for any input. Guest guest
My thoughts would be to use it if other means of pain control are not enough, and only with " informed consent " . Guest guest
Hi I have a similar situation with an IW with an scapular osteosarcoma that went on to acutely rupture his opposite cruciate. We put an orthopets brace on his stifle and he didn't look back. Of course he is on multiple pain meds for his obne cancer. Guest guest
Thanks for the input! As it turns out, his owner had not been giving any pain meds as she wasn't sure that he was in pain - is now on Tramadol, EFAs (won't tolerate NSAIDs) and is doing well with this and early weightbearing/strengthening exercises...owners have held off on bracing for now as he is improving and happy.
