Eva,

To answer your questions first let me say who I am...yes new to the group and

lurking for a few weeks. Just finished first 3 sections of UT's rehab. In

practice over 20 years...using therapeutic laser for 4-5 years (that led me to

want to know/do more pain and rehab ). For past 2-3 years I've been

teaching/lecturing on 'Photobiomodulation' for Litecure/Companion Laser. Most

recently have joined Dr Ron Reigel with AIMLA (www.aimla.org)

Now to answer your questions:

1: black hair? this is a diode laser and like ALL lasers emitting similar

wavelengths of light...from a diode source...no matter the power/wattage set at

these photons prefer pigment and will be absorbed preferentially by pigment. So

dark/black absorbs more photons of light. What then is the concern with the CTL

laser? POWER. what do you do about it? Turn the power DOWN. simple really and

I'm not being sarcastic. Don't think that just because you have 10-15 watts you

need to always use them. These machines are very easy to setup and are

configured for pigment, hair length, and skin thickness, all factors which need

to be considered before using the machine on a patient ...

2: Hematoma: I'm assuming Aural hematoma? No issue at all. NO will not make the

hematoma start bleeding again. If there is swelling/edema you may see some quick

reduction is same but otherwise you are likely not going to see/notice/feel any

difference in one treatment.

What you may and should pay attention to during this one treatment with a

salesperson giving you all the 'highlights' etc is how does the patient tolerate

the experience? watch cat and see what happens after 30-60 seconds of therapy?

does it relax? is it more or less agitated? is it more/less painful?

uncomfortable in any way? make a mental note of this.

Hope this helps,

to do a demonstration for our clinic. I am seriously interested in purchasing a

laser - and this is our first demo of 2-3 set up.

with the companion laser - or is the machine set up to do it automatically when

set in fur color? Please help with this .

surgical site? Surgery was done by an associate 12 days ago, and now it is

swollen and blood filled around the sutures. We are draining it manually and it

is improving - but since I have the laser tomorrow - why not?

Eva I agree completely with Weiner's assessment of the Companion Therapy Laser. I've also been using them for nearly 5 years and have had success in treating many types of cases. We actually use 3 CTL units in our 7 doctor practice and find them durable, reliable and trouble free. Service is great although you're not likely to need it and they have an excellent training program for you and staff. Be sure ALL your staff understand laser therapy and how and why it works and you'll LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! Denny
