Guest guest
Hello Everyone, Please find below details of a seminar on the constitutional treatment of Infants and Elders with Hedley. with best wishes, Guy Waddell You are invited to Treating Infants and Elders with herbs - a constitutional perspective with Hedley AHG organised by Guy Waddell URHP Saturday 14th February 2009, Regent’s College, London, NW1 Infants and Elders, what do they have in common? Infants are recently come from the womb and are still wet and defenseless. Their immune systems are not fully formed. Elders have used up their wetness in 'blood, sweat and tears'. They have become dry and brittle and their immune systems are weakening. In infants the life force is strong but not yet firmly grounded. In elders the life force is dying down and becoming less firmly grounded. Both are frail. Both are close to the spirit and therefore open to insights into their own condition, which is harder for people in the busy, middle times of life. Infancy and old age are the extreme ends of life, which gives them in practice much in common. They both lack independence, which usually means having to treat the whole family, and deal with their expectations and fears. This can make it difficult to see your patient as an individual and treat them with due respect. It can be daunting being asked to treat people newly born and people near death. I will take this opportunity to explore what I was taught, that 'there is always something a herbalist can do'. Hedley is an experienced and internationally respected herbalist, trained by the National institute of Medical Herbalists. He is a professional member of the American Herbalists Guild. He is a skilled teacher and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently teaching at Westminster University. He has taught herbal medicine for 25 years - at all levels from beginners to MSc and in all its aspects from gardening to clinical practice. Date: Saturday 14th February 2009 9.30am to 5.00pm.
