Hi all,

I was referred the above Greyhound who was rescued by the owners about 5 years

ago. She never raced and had two litters before they got her. She was non

weight bearing on her right hind leg at that time and her vet gave her a Depo

shot which helped. She would intermittently become lame, get steroids and then

improve. She saw an orthopedic surgeon at that time who didn't find anything

painful but thought she might have sartorius myositis. So after all these years

of intermittent lameness and the Depo shots, the owners wanted to try laser

therapy, etc. I saw her and got significant bilateral iliopsoas pain. Even

though she is mildly lame on her RH, she does have a stiff gait in both hind

legs. She has great ROM of both hind legs. Even though it is so chronic, I do

not feel any adhesions or contracture. Her back muscles are sensitive along

entire spine probably due to such compensation.

I started with laser, acupuncture, and aquapuncture with B12. I had the owner

increase the Rimadyl to BID as it was prescribed b/c owner was only giving once

a day and told her to shorten walks. (she was doing one long 30 min walk).

For laser therapy, I have a Respond laser class 3b and did 6J/cm2 over back

muscles and iliiopsoas muscles and will get to do 3 laser tx this week and see

her again next Tuesday.

I have only had maybe 2 cases of iliopsoas pain and they were working dogs! Is

there anything else I should be doing? Thanks so much!
