The surgeon I work with also does extracapsular repairs. Occassionally we see a meniscal tear later down the road. My surgeon will go back into the joint via a medial aproach, remove the meniscus if damaged and close without disturbing the extracap repair. This is a much less invasive procedure than the original CCL repair, and the dogs rehab much faster. I hope this helps.

ACL repair failure with post-surgery meniscal derangement

I have had an extra cap ACL lateral suture repair on my dog, she is a F/S 100 lb (she is not fat, she is big) last november. She is still PWB, on drawer test there is a slight movement (same as before surgery, and she did have complete ruptured of ACL). With the Cyriax D stroke there is the click indicating meniscal tear. The surgeon suggest a TPLO... Any thoughts/suggestion/options other than this?

Thanks!!!!
