Guest guest
I'm in the process of creating a proposal for a starting canine rehabilitation program for my hospital board of directors. What is the current average salary for a DVM certified in rehabilitation (What amount would be recommended to add to current full-time salary now that I have obtained an additional skill).? Thank you for any input.
Guest guest
Couple of questions.... Are you currently on a fixed salary or salary with percentage? Are you planning on working additional hours to fit in the rehabilitation or work the cases around your existing schedule? Are you also asking the hospital to make a capital investment in equipment? Guest guest
Currently on base + production. My hours/days would remain the same but I would be offering an additional service for the hospital. Guest guest
As an associate in a multi-doctor practice, and prior partner it would be a hard sell for me to pay more to an associate for adding an additional service to the hospital when the increased caseload would translate to a higher salary simply due to the production portion of your income. My suggestion would be to make the proposal for offering the service with the expectation that in 1 year you would evaluate the income that is generated from the rehab and potentially negotiate a higher percentage of the production from that service than the other cases you see as a way to recoup your investment in the CE (assuming you paid for the coursework out of your own pocket). I think if you go in and simply ask for a higher salary based on potential revenue it will be difficult to convince them of the value. Prove to them that you can bring in the cases, and then as that portion of the practice grows, ask for more as a result of the income you are generating for them. My opinion.
