Hi again.I'm having that " all important meeting " today to discuss this and would LOVE some input.  Even a few notes, your gut feeling, first/last impression would be great-- no need to consult WikiPedia-- I can do that myself!  ;-)

Thanks.Amie As we establish a " vision " of what our already-busy physical therapy and rehabilitation department is, I wonder if there is a consensus out there?  Can you send me (off list, please, so to avoid any heated discussion, turf issues, etc.) your definition of the following:

-physical therapy/physiotherapy?-physical medicine?-physical rehabilitation?-rehabilitation?-any other term that you use to describe your area of practice.

Also, I wonder what is included in these definitions, what modalities, treatments, techniques, etc? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and contribution to this field.Regards,Amie Hesbach

PS: I'd be glad to post a summary of answers once I consolidate responses.

For any/all of the entries you listed--using physical means (light, water, heat, cold, sound, electricity, manual techniques, exercise and movement) to assess and treat orthopedic, neurologic and medical conditions, decrease pain and edema, improve ROM, strength, functional mobility, gait, quality of life, and general function.
