Guest guest
Hi, my name is , I'm a vet in Costa Rica.. Im almost done with the first part of CRRT, i still have to do the internship. I have donde some courses of rehab in Argentina and Spain, which makes it a bit harder because they use different equipment with different units of intensity etc.. as well as the classification of lasers is totally different. I have this dog, her name is Pita, a PUG. She came for rehab when she was barely 2 months old ; the history / accident facts given by the previous owner were: Pita was bit and shaken on the neck by a Jack Terrier. Pita was able to recover from this trauma with just some prednisone. One week later the same dog bit her again at the same level, and on several occasions her children would accidently drop her. She went to the referring vet, he took some x rays, but there was no visible change. On the physical exam: She had 2 ulcers on the right eye (probably a tooth mark from the bite) ventro- lateral nistagmus Myoclones especially on the left side of the head and on the hind legs. She had superficial sensibility The reflex where augmented. If stressed she would have seizures She wasn't able to maintain or get into sternal position she would fall most of the times toward the right side and had a hard time getting up Had trouble supporting her head up She had to be held in order to eat and drink Medical treatment at that time was Prednisone 20mg/kg Gabapectin Magnetic therapy NMS Corset to stabilize the neck Manual excises Today...Pita still cant walk but she does move both her front legs and her left hind leg. As reference I am sending a video of her using her wheelchair. During the night, she tends to have " spasms " to call them something....its a twith between her left eye and left ear....on her head. It usually gets worse only at night. She does not complain or cry of pain, but you can tell she does get uncomfortable. Also, her temperature generally rises a little when this worsens. Also, she has a constant spasm that makes her back right leg twitch constantly...this appears not to bother her. Another symptom that remained from her accident, is that every once in a while...there is no particular time that this happens, and it only does for a few seconds, is the nistagmus then it > stops. When this happens, she does not complain or express discomfort. Treatment today: Magnetic therapy Homeopathy Gabapectin (one 75mg capsule at night) that helps a lot with the myoclones I created an album with the radiographs, its under the name PITA Advice Case. These were taken these year. . i have some videos but i dont know how o upload them.. If any one wants to see them i can send them to your email. i know she needs a MRI san but unfortunately we don't have those for dogs, which makes de diagnosis a bit hard.
