Guest guest
Hi, My name is Gordon Brown. Me and my wife Jennaver are new WAPF local chapter leaders for St Clair County in Illinois--in the northern part of the southern part of the state email: gordon@... We are raw milk consumers. I also own 3 acres and live on land cleared by my family who still own another 95 acres right next to us. So there is potential for us to be farmers again at some point. I was raised as a farmer of " traditional " corn/beans/wheat and we had horses and chickens when I was a kid. Raw dairy sales are legal in Illinois with some stipulations. Currently, to my knowledge, you can only buy direct from farmers and must provide your own container. Aged raw cheeses are also legal (aged 60 day minimum and must be licensed). A recently passed cottage food law also opens up more opportunity for selling traditional foods--but excludes raw dairy and other " potentially hazardous " food. www.agr.state.il.us/farmersmarket/IDPH_TIBF30.pdf http://www.ilstewards.org/content/12404 I look forward to learning from everyone here and sharing anything I can to help others get and produce raw milk.
