Guest guest
Alpha-Stim is approved for home use. We train clients and send home with them every day. They can rent or purchase. The treatments are cumulative and long lasting plus treats the pain, anxiety, and stress centrally so helping the autonomic nervous system too. What are your thoughts on clients using these machines at home and can anyone recommend an appropriate device for client use?Thank your for your thoughts. Guest guest
Hi I loan owners TENS regularly for DJD and non surgical spinal pain. I prefer the cheaper machines (JPM products for those in the UK) which allow you to set all the parameters manually and use on a low pulse rate (3-5 hz) and medium pulse width (100uS). As this gives longer pain relief via reduced dorsal horn activity and opiate and endorphin release. I have pretty much never had a problem with owners using these in 10 years and it augments medication well .Joanne BoddySender: VetRehab Date: Tue, 26 Jun 2012 14:44:06 -0500To: <VetRehab >ReplyTo: VetRehab Subject: RE: TENS units Alpha-Stim is approved for home use. Guest guest
And TENS machines are readily available commercially at any drug store / pharmacy (or online).I don't see this machine as a big issue - but they will need to be instructed in it's proper use.I would agree that cheap manual units are great for owners (and I prefer dials myself over electronic screens... I think that makes me officially 'old')Laurie Laurie Edge-, BScPT, MAnimSt (Animal Physio), CAFCI, CCRTCEO,Four Leg Rehab Inc.Canine Rehab Educational Resourceswww.fourleg.comCheck it out!! Guest guest
Yes I agree . I always would train the owner in person and not give to owners or animals with epilepsy or if they have a pacemaker. If it doesn't help much to start there are lots of variables you can play with.
