Guest guest
Bonjour Anne: Sorry, it's taken me so long to get back to you, in all honesty I seem to have not only misplaced your e-mail address but, not just that but my head as well. Penina sounds just wonderful. I'm sure she will surprise everybody one day soon. It's just unbelieveable how much our special kids grow and love and slowly mature and understand the world around them. Have you been associated with the MAB long? We 1st. got involved with them when was only 18 months old. At that time she wasn't even sitting up yet. Unfortunately, because she is only blind from 1 eye and has prefect 20/20 vision in the other eye they would not accept her in the early intervention program. They did however (and continue to do so) see her on a counselation basics. She has ocular colaboma in both eyes and a limited field of vision. They did however send me to lots of different area's for services for . She does attend summer camp there and maybe it was her that Ken was talking about. Has Penina gone to there summer camp yet? will this be her 1st. year? It's just a great day camp for kids. Last year went to 2 movies, the aqua park, the beach, the waterslides, even to the jazz festivel. They have a heated indoor pool and teach the kids to swim (doggy paddle) and take them to they huges backyard everyday. They go out (on the town) at least twice a week. I've spent some time there helping out a few years ago and I can tell you it's great! Since, I'm on a roll -- I talk to much. I was wondering if you are receiving all the special needs child benefits provided by the 2 governments? You should be receiving all of the following benefits if you are not call Ken or the CLSC in DDO to see a social worker. Tax deduction for handicapped child, tax deduction for diapers ( if using 3 per day) funding for diapers, funding for gas to transport child to theraphies, handicapped child family allowance, respite/babysitting/summer camp allowance, funding for special medical equipment, and the list goes on. Alot of parents do not know about all the funding available for they special child in Quebec. Does Penina attent an nursery programs or intervention programs? I know that there are not alot of nurserys that will take special needs kids but I do know of the few that attended and if you need one I can help you there. Anyways, it's almost 9pm. and that means by bedtime (I have to be at work at 5am tomorrow but, I'm home by 11am so, it works out great). With that I say Salut mon amie --- Kis
