Interesting, Steve. I followed your other walk and will follow this one. Hope you can get it going.

An update.

The last time I posted here I said I was going to close down the group and that may still happen because that part of my life is over. But recent events have changed things and I'm considering making another walk across the country. I'm posting today because I'm looking for people who might be interested in walking with me. All or part, it doesn't matter. Nothing is solid yet, it's just an idea at this point. But I am actively working towards putting another walk together. So, if you think you would be interested please send me an email and let's talk.Steve

Well that's the main part that I'm unsure of right now. I would like to do it

before the world ends of course. But it's about logistics this time because it

will be more than just me going. But I will know more in the next few weeks I

suspect. I will keep the group posted.

At this point I'm not sure what the route would be. One part of me would like to

redo the first route, another would like to do the Pacific Coast Trail instead.

Logistically, the PCT would be easier to manage. But I'm not sure which way to

go yet. I'll keep the group posted.

Thanks

even northern Oregon. I live in Richland, WA, about 25 miles north of the

Washington/Oregon border, in south-central Washington. My Schipperke and I try

to walk at least 3 miles per day, 5 days a week; sometimes 6 miles per day,

depending on the weather and how we feel. Today we did 3 miles in 52 minutes,

(I have a pedometer/GPS/mp3 player app on my iPhone that I use religiously).

If the route takes you through Virginia I would be interested in walking with you some. It would certainly be interesting to go a different route. Have you though about the Appalachain Trail, the Continental Divide Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail? To: thefatmanwalking_group Sent: Wednesday, April 25, 2012 2:33 PM Subject:

Hi Steve: Am curious to know how you did with losing your weight.. What

stage are you at now? I understand it is always a struggle for many of us.. What has got you inspired to walk across the country again? Louise

Steve, have you made any headway on the reason for the weight gain? It's a problem I need to find the solution for myself. I know that I tend to occasionally eat too much of the wrong thing like nachos, chips, or cookies. Lately I've been taking a different approach to eating better. Rather than telling myself I can't eat this or that, I just try to add in fresh fruit and veggies. I figure that will naturally eliminate some bad stuff from my daily intake. Louise. I've lost and gained, lost and gained. just like everyone else. I know that without lifelong change I will never lose the weight. So my inspiration isn't losing weight at all. It's creating better habits and making them part of my everyday life. Because until I can make that commitment to myself there will never be lasting change.

I haven't decided to walk across the country again. I'm considering it and also other, shorter, walks. Giving 9 months to a year of your life is difficult. And I'm not sure what is best for me yet. But there is something coming and it won't just be about me this time.

,

I have made some great strides in the last year or so to determining what the

self destruct mechanism inside of me really is about. But these last couple of

month have been the best growth periods for me. It's taken a long time to get

here and I had to fall lower than I ever have before, but I've made these

breakthroughs with the help of both of my parents. Something I wasn't expecting

at all. The changes over the last few months are what have motivated me to

change. Because now I believe change is possible whereas before I was only

hoping it was. I still have a long way to go but I think the obstacles in my way

are moving.

As far as your remarks about food I think it boils down to excess amounts, poor

choices in processed over natural, and an addiction to salts, fats, and sugars.

This is what I'm working on currently anyway. The body craves only what it

needs, nothing more. It's the brain that craves three of them dipped in

chocolate and a side order of something worse.

been and still are an inspiration to a lot of us To hear that you too struggle

with various issues just like I do makes me feel inspired to get off my butt and

do something like you are.
