hi

i've ready in many articles that calcium, Vitamin D & exercise improve bone density

betty

My endocrinologist had me take a blood test to check my levels of Vit D and found it low. He stated that many women in SE Florida are found to have low levels of Vit. D.

That may be why my osteoporosis meds have not resulted in an acceptable improvement over the past 4 years. There was no improvement with either Fosamax or Evista. Then I was placed on Evista and Actenol and there has been a small improvement.

He has prescribed 50,000 units or mg. (I don't know which one is correct as he sells it in an unmarked envelope that he prepares) every two weeks. You can purchase it over the counter, however I find it easier to pick it up from his office. I will need a blood test soon to reveal the results. Hope it helps to improve my bone density.

Has anyone else heard about this deficiency?
