Guest guest
Hey Thereza, I have been on hypertonic saline 7% for last few months. It's a challenge - makes me cough alot but it does loosen secretions and then I follow with the Vest to get it all up and out but it does work. Live..Love..Laugh! Introduction as New Member!! Hi, I have posted and read quite a few posts but haven't as yet properly introduced myself. So this is my latest......In April this year, I under went some major surgery to completely remove my bowels due to very severe Ulceritive Colitis (bowel disease)Then 8 weeks AFTER the operation.I developed went the dr's said was Bronchititis. So after 5 lots of various form of anti-biotics, sputum tests, chest x-ray, pulmonary function test and a CT scan(3 1/2months since Bronchitis started)I was diagnosed with of course, Bronchiectasis! !! (I must be collecting the diseases, bowels then lungs!)I am still awaiting an appointment to see the chest physio, How much reduction in coughing will it do?So for nearlt 4 months now, I am coughing, reaching and sometimes being sick due to the excess phylem. It has various shades of green!!They say I probably got this lung disease because there is a conection of some sort with the bowel disease. The scarring is shown through the CT scan on both lungs but I wasn't told to what extent.I wheeze on and off each day, especially stairs.I have to re-home my 18 month old labrador due to this as I can't cope with the extensive walks he needs (he is VERY active) especially as I have 3 children (8,6 & 3) that need walking back and forth to school, and the rest of the physical work that goes wit it.I am going in for more major surgery in January (5/6 hour op) that I am a little worried on how my stomach will cope (scar is a foot long) so of course scar and coughing don't go together that well!So my question is, how much control of this disease do many of you get? I thankfully haven't had any big infections such as chest infection/pnumonia etc. mostly viral that seems to come in waves but so far alway have greeny cough ups!!! My sinis's are opk so far, other than experiencing a running flow to the back of my throat.ALso, I cannot gain weight at the moment, I have lost about 14lbs since this and I am really wanting to put on weight before my next op. (especially as I will have another smaller op. following the January one 8-12 weeks later!) I love to hear from other peoples experience of this disease. Sorry for the long post!Danni xxxxxx
