Dear 'List'

I have a 57 year old patient who mentioned that she experiences pain

on intercourse and whose vagina bleeds easily, including when she

applies her orthodox cream using the applicator it came with. She

uses the cream regularly but has not had sex with her husband for 3

years.

I have trawled vaginal dryness on this and the NIMH Members Forum

List to good effect. As well as Cimicifuga and Trigonella in

particular I'm wondering (because of the easy bleeding) about

pessaries: eg if anyone now makes up pessaries (Herbal Apothecary

used to apparently) and/or any good recipes anyone has used.

Obviously linseed and phytooestrogens is going to be important too.

Someone mentioned in relation to a young girl with vaginal infections

altering the environment to a more acidic one using cider vinegar

baths. Other thoughts on this theme would be welcome.

Other relevant background about this px: she had a diagnosis of RA

15 or so years ago and learnt qi gong, which is now her passion and

has greatly improved her health, especially her joints. She still

has dry eyes (so Trigonella internally is a definite choice); also

hair loss which started when overstraining herself studying aged 16

and worsened in the menopause, low ferritin may be playing a role.

All ideas and experience much appreciated.

best wishes Katharine
