Guest guest
Hi, I have a patient with a puzzling vaginal discharge that I'm not making any progress with. It's scanty, normally just staining really, and a caramel brown colour, sometimes with what looks like dessicated coconut in it. Bland, not irritating. She says it makes her clothes smell, either fishy, or stale like ammonia. It seems to be least just after her period, then gradually worsens during her cycle. All tests for infection have been clear. It was unchanged/possibly worse after surgery for cervical erosion. Anti-fungals have cleared it while she was taking them, but it rebounded after the end of the course. More puzzlingly, it also improved while she was taking antibiotics for a chest infection, but again rebounded after the end of the course. All suggestions gratefully received. Best wishes, Natalia Natalia Kerkham
