Exactly.. Go with your gut Hon.. But try to get a doctor to give you the

diagnoses. It can make a world of difference with funding.

Girls are rare.. But again maybe they just present differently.. And doctors

believe its more rare.. Than it really is!

My son used to do that... well, he still does sometimes... I don't think it

is anything to worry about... his counselor said that wasn't unusual:)

Please have this checked with an opthamologist as this COULD ge optic nerve

inflammation, which is one of the early warning signs for MS which is another

autoimmune disease.

Thanks for your replies about my eyes.. It is very disturbing- as are the rest

of symptoms of RA that I am getting used to.. I see my Rhuemy on Monday and I

did make an eye appt. for Tuesday. I am not on MTX at this point, so it

concerns me even more.

in your right eye?

According to the surgeon, what was the foreign object in your eye?

How long was it between the time that the surgeon said that he removed the

foreign object and the recurrence of pain?

Did your physician's partner give you a diagnosis for the eye inflammation

(a name)?

personally, i've never heard it put that way but that's not to say it

doesn't exist. it's just news to me. i suppose we could research it

ourselves.

my problem with that is your doctor didn't seem to offer much of a

solution. My experience has been every time there's a problem ra gets

blamed for it. a medication can cause a problem and people will say

that ra caused it or a medical error caused a problem and it will be

said ra caused it. makes you wonder if anyone is really trying to

solve any problems because they can always say i didn't do it, ra did

it.

all just my opinon of course.

Hi ,

How are you and the kids doing, it has been so long? I had the eye

operated on five weeks ago. The object in my occurred a week ago

Thursday. On Friday I was fine and went to Cape Cod, came home on Tuesday

and then on this Friday I knew something wasn't right. At first I thought

maybe I had gotten sand in the eye. He didn't tell me what the object was,

said he got it out and that was that.

His partner feels it is coming from the RA. He said everything looks fine,

except that my eye was inflamed. He gave me two different drops and said by

late last night I would start to feel better. I did too. Today so far he

has been right and I do feel better. I am wondering if there wasn't an

infection in my eye from either the surgery or the foreign object. I am

slow at healing. The eye surgery went so well. Actually it wasn't suppose

to turn out as well as it did. I don't need glasses anymore. He said on

rare occasions a persons benefits both sight and distance vision and this is

what happen to me. No complaint here.

Hi Ebony,

I am just wondering since it takes me awhile to heal, if there wasn't an

underlying infection from either the surgery or the foreign object. I know

Ra causes a lot but like you, I never heard this one.

I remember when I had small (and larger even) children in my house

when things happened NOBODY did it. Who broke the lamp...everyone

looks at the floor....Nobody. WHo lost the remote control for the new

tv?? everyone looks at the floor again...nobody. It sounds like RA is

LOL! I could pictue that with the kids.

Yeah, I know. It's just kind of scary that RA is the culprit, so oh

well. I have dry eye syndrome and having lots of problems with the

eye, blurred vision, etc. then everything goes back to normal for a

while with the vision. Some days eyes are drier than others. So

definitely need the eyes checked by a specialist. Rheumy knows but

doesn't recommend anything. My focus is to find a pcp then get

recommendations for the docs I need. Just really scary when it comes

to the eyes.

I take both bilberry and lutein for my eyes. Either those or LDN seems

to be " breaking up " the dark spot in my vision. I have ON in my left

eye. For three years it has been like wearing DARK shades with only one

lens. Now I have brighter patches. I am hopeful it will continue to

improve.

Most other folks take bilberries and vitamin A to help with their eyesight.

Bilberries are cousins to blueberries, by the way.

An herbal maintenance dosage is usually lx3 a day. When you are trying to alleviate a symptom, 3x3 is a good amount. This is what an herbalist will most often recommend. Kathy

I'm no expert, and we are now looking for a dx for my

18 year old. I now exactly what you mean. This son

was mostly " gone " ; his eyes didn't " quite " focus on

the moment, etc. (he would look at us and I'd sense

not quite " see " us; at least, not enough to always

respond.) My husband (who is very ADHD and a slow

processer) would always say " give him time to respond "

but in the time it would take my husband to respond to

the same question, my son would have completely lost

focus/forgotten that we were waiting for a response

LOL) My son now says (after 2 years on

glyconutrients-a lot of that aloe vera and

arabinogalactin) that he never felt " present " for most

of his life.

(he is still not " all here " , but is much better, to

the point we can have short conversations about his

areas of interest)

Seems to me that if anything describes autistic

spectrum, that would be that " vacant sign " in the

eyes. YMMV Maybe that isn't true for everyone??

I don't know why the aloe vera/glyconutrients help so

much (they are not a cure-all but very helpful) but I

read that they reduce gut inflammation and help my

enzyme processes.

BTW, this son is also extremely gifted in maths and

science; so apparently are many Aspergers. (it is said

that Aspies are " overrepresented " in these departments

in universities, which sounds very believeable...I

have a brother who is brilliant in those areas, but

incredibly niave socially)'

It is interesting that for those kids who have spatial

issues and trouble with coordination (ie tend to be

" clumsy " ), that " challenge " often spills over into

higher level math difficulty.

Gosh, this sounds so much like my son when he was 2 -3+ years old. We had

done tons of intervention (he is 5.5 now). Naturopathic, homeopathy, and

lots of speech and OT and he scored at beginning Kindergarten level last

week for his IEP! We are getting by day to day and notice the daily

improvement, but it is unbelievable when I look at my notes from when he was

3, how far he has come. His EYES was a big piece that other people noticed.

He looked through everything and acted like he didn't hear you either (lots

of hearing tests.but he passed). My other son has 'body-in-space' issues

and is in OT for sensory/balance and low muscle tone and he is very bright

and a math and reading wiz, so I thought that comment was interesting.

Didn't I hear that Bill Gates has aspergers?

I too have psoriasis in my ears.....took a dermatologist to diagnose. But

if you are having any type of eye problem, please see an Opthamalogist,

possible one that also has an optomotrist in the office, too. This helps make

one

visit not two. I just saw my eye Dr. and he rx'd Restasis, he gave me

samples first. I did not hear him and assumed that my clumsy hands did not put

in

enough of a drop, so I made sure I filled my eyes with the medication!!! Wow

was I sorry! My eyes got so sore, red and black underneath that I could

hardly open my eyes. I called the Dr, and he was upset that he did not make

sure I understood, had me take a 1 week rest and then start 1 time per day. I

am now up to two times per day, but only 1 small drop in each eye, IT IS

GREAT! I can read better, see better, and my eyes are not so red.
