Being bothered by dog barking, for example, you wouldn't find me working in a

Kennel (or its adjoining office). Ask your employers if they wouldn't mind

investing in soundproofing between the testing area and the office area; if it's

a no go, find a diffent job. With loud or deep noises, it's a catch 22; either

you block out everything, or nothing.

such as bass from a stereo that's being repaired? I find myself getting so

angry, but this is what they do at my workplace, I'm just unfortunate enough to

be in an office near the garage. I've thought about earplugs, but I'm afraid I

won't hear the things I need to hear, such as coworkers in offices beside mine

asking questions, or my phone. This anger is so consuming, I can't seem to get

any work done the entire time they're working on stereos, and now that it's

getting nicer out I'm sure there'll be more...

Noise cancelling earphones are great at reducing low frequency noises, but you can still hear people talk (perhaps only if they are next to you). Hope you find something that helps you.
