I had 3 laser surgeries with the type of lasers you mention done by Dr.

Reid some years ago. Dr. Reid was the one who pioneered this

treatment. This is not a " new " treatment idea. In fact, the use of

lasers to treat vulvodynia is now basically discouraged. Dr. Reid's

Michigan clinic is closed (check the date on your info packet!!), he

returned to his native Australia due to malpractice suits, although I

found him to be a good doctor. He did 3 laser surgeries, and removed my

Bartholin's glands. My surgery was so clean that my gyn didn't even

know that i had it until i told her. I recovered quickly enough, but am

not really better, but am not worse either.

Sue Ellen,

It is my understanding that there are two types of Laser surgery, one of

which definitely has no place in treating VV. So, which one was he sued for

and what happened to the vulvas of the women who sued?

Thanks for any thoughts-

Do yoe think the laser surgery done by Reid is safe? Did he suggest it to

you? I am trying to understand how the women's vaginas were mutilated by a

laser that supposedly can't do that to your tissue. I am getting more

confused. Thanks for any more input:) kelly

Hi Sue Ellen,

Sorry it took me so long. I use the internet for business and don't always

have a chance to reply. My pain is during intercourse and sometimes when I

wear tight pants. It seems to feel better at times and worse at other

times. I feel a burning near the outer edges and a brusing way inside.
