worsened over about a month's time. I received almost instant relief from the

prednisone, and I could finally walk pain free for the first time in weeks. I

was on a titrated dose, and I did seem to notice some of the pain returning as I

got to my last four doses (one pill per day compared to the initial dose of 4

pills). I tried to chalk it up to having just slept wrong, or whatever, because

the pain was vague enough.

bit nervous. I'm not happy at all with how my knees and wrists feel. :-( If

prednisone gave you relief, was it only while you were on it? I really don't

want to be on maintenance doses of prednisone, as I also have type 2 diabetes,

and the prednisone wreaks havoc with my blood sugar levels. If it matters any,

we believe the EN was brought on by mono, as I tested positive for mono a couple

of weeks ago.

I read your post and would like to respond. I have taken Prednisone on and off

for the last 25+ years. It has helped when I needed it most but really only

masks the real problem and can create bigger problems. I had been on Prednisone

for three straight years and every time I got off the lesions would return with

a vengeance. As a result of the prednisone, I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I

have currently been off of Prednisone for three years...yes there are aches and

pains but the diagnosis of diabetes is gone!

I have followed the posts on our support site and decided to go gluten free two

years ago. After having EN for 40+ years, I have currently been EN free for two

and a half years. This month marks two years gluten free. I am so grateful to

our support group and the many people who have helped by just posting. I

started taking Braggs Apple Cider vinegar (with the mother), going gluten free,

and listening to my body...rest when I need it. Many of our group have done

much research on our disease and in doing so have helped others so much.

I will say without the prednisone I would not have been able to walk at times;

the pain being so unbearable. There is no easy answer to the use of Prednisone

but maybe you will open yourself up to trying other remedies. Don't go off

Prednisone cold turkey either...follow your doctor's recommendation until you

wean yourself off.

Good luck.

EN 41 years

EN free 2 years (Thank you ...without you leading the way, none of this

would have been possible)
