9 minutes? Wow..Guess it is better than nothing, but was hoping in an hour long show, it would be a little longer.

I know a lot of you are asking when the show will be on. The show about misophonia will be on this Friday, May 18th on ABC 20/20.

The theme of the show is " Make it stop "

The segment will be about 9 minutes unless that has changed again since I last talked with the producer. Originally it was suppose to be longer.

If you check the 20/20 page, it will show what is coming up this week. So far it hasn't been promoted.

I made a comment on ABC's 20/20 facebook page too. It's been shared over 60

times also which translates to gobs of others who will see it. I'm going to be

brave and write on my own facebook urging my friends and family, most of which

I've never told about my Misophonia, to watch and learn. I may find out who is

really my friend after that. Ha ha! But, I'm willing to do it just to make

more people aware. I'm tired of hiding in the shadows, I'm tired of being

ashamed. I'm tired of feeling this way so whatever I have to do to end it, I

will.

Wonderful to hear Darlene. Way to take control. Some will judge but most will be supportive. Take the criticism with a grain of salt. Those people just lack empathy. You have over a 1000 people supporting you as do the people who are about to go public Friday night. I told my neighbors who removed the carpet from their house and now stomp up and down the stairs how hard it is for me to live in the townhouse next to them. I asked them to watch 20/20 so that they could understand why. I hope they do. Sent from my iPhone

Yes it is Heidi! Thanks for name correction :). I've shared the link to family and coworkers. Oddly enough, a coworker diagnosed himself as a sufferer. I agree. Awareness + Exciting times= Closer to cure/better management of the condition! Sent from my iPhone

Thanks Heidi. This is what I am posting on my Facebook..... " Friday night, on

ABC's 20/20, they will be doing a story about a condition called Misophonia. I

hope if people watch it, they will withhold judgement and simply try to

understand that there are things in life that people are dealing with on a daily

basis, that just because you don't understand them, doesn't mean they are

'weird' or 'crazy'. Until now, only 4 people know that I have been dealing with

this condition for 27 years. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy " .

I think for the most part the people on my facebook will be intrigued more than

judgmental, since I am VERY selective as to who I am " friends " with. However,

I'm preparing myself for anything and like you said, those that criticize simply

lack empathy and it doesn't matter because have a whole army behind me here. :)

I have had great success with posting on my facebook page. A lot of my friends

and family have told me that they had NO idea I was struggling with this and

that their hearts went out to me. They are also very intrigued by this and plan

to watch. I'm very happy I decided to post it on my wall. I feel like more

weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

First, thanks to the group moderator for letting me in. This post is my first

one. Hello, fellow sufferers!

Yesterday must have been a lucky day for me. For starters, I heard the word

" misophonia " on a radio show that I don't normally listen to. The word struck a

nerve with me, so I looked it up. What I found was astonishing. I'm really not

crazy. There are others suffering with this debilitation condition.

While researching the condition, I found a link to this group. After I logged

in, I discovered much to my pleasant surprise that 20/20 is doing a piece on the

condition tonight! How coincidental is that?

I'll make another post with my experiences with misophonia, but for now, thanks

for the information and support.
