BTW it is estimated six million people will watch tonight's 20/20 show...what a

gift in spreading the word about this situation to the entire world.

Congrats to all YOUR hard work.

Thank YOU Dr. J!!! The comments are rolling in on ABC's 20/20 website with many

relieved to know they are not alone anymore.

Sure thing. This is the website where you can watch the 20/20 segment and leave comments. The sound has been removed from the crunching and slurping but you will still 'see' it for those with visual triggers. You can leave comments at the bottom.... lets all send out thanks to ABC 20/20 for doing this story. ABC 20/20 > >> > Thank YOU Dr. J!!! It is amazing to finally have a name, to finally know I'm not alone, I'm not

crazy. My mother happened to see 20/20 tonight, and she reached out to me. Just

knowing changes my life. All in one night. Thanks to all of you on this site.

And especially you, Martha for researching and striving to understand this

condition. Equally wonderful is that I'm a fellow Oregonian, and only 90 miles

from you. :D

I agree on the foot shaking, fingers wiggling--I try so hard to forget it or block it from my view but that's not easy. In movie theaters I will get up and move if someone is eating loudly--but mostly I try to sit in the last row--that way they cannot kick my seat, eat right behind me, etc. As for friends I just try to be honest. Please don't scrap your fork against your teeth. If they are a good friend they will try. I just read the comments on the ABC website and it brought tears to my eyes to

see how many people have this and thought they were the only ones. It's a

blessing that ABC ran this story. Thank you so much Dr J. and all involved for

continuing to bring awareness to the world!!

Has anyone found a copy with the trigger sounds left in? I have some friends who want to see it, and I don't think it will have the same effect for them with no noise in those areas.

2941 members in this group as of right now (5/19/12 Saturday afternoon after the Friday night of the 20/20 airing)...it will be interesting to keep an eye on the membership and activity here. Although I am already having a hard time keeping up, and to be honest I usually just delete or skim through the daily digests because like many others I have noticed just reading other triggers (beyond the countless ones I already have) that I miraculously HAVEN'T noticed, I start to notice them. I am 33 have had this since childhood, maybe 4th grade or so, maybe sooner...and sadly it is getting worse with age, although it helps to know it is REAL and not my fault, and that I am not alone. That in itself is the reason I stay here, and also that hope that someday somehow there will be an easy fix or even to help if there are

professionals looking for volunteers for research studies, questionairres, etc. I am very greatful whenever a mainstream media source sheds light on this little known condition, because I know how deeply I was moved to discover there were others suffering this insanity. Even if there is never a cure, simply finding 'misophonia/4s' groups online like this one removed a HUGE weight of guilt and confusion from my shoulders, where even when I feel the rage and horrible churning in response to a trigger, I don't have to add to those horrible feelings with thoughts of why can't I just stop and ignore, like everyone else seems to be able to...and instead I can focus on remembering that I simply have a condition, and rather than silently suffer, I have a right to remove myself from the situation or even find the courage to explain the condition and ask for understanding from the offender (still working on the courage to do that more often).

Thanks for reading friends...Best wishes to all of you!! Wishing you PEACE and love and light xoxo Kaci Anne McCall Professional FACE PAINTING, personalized crafts, and more! Just watched the 20/20 show - had to keep it muted because of the announcers voice and her tendency to enunciate the SSSS sound. Everyone interviewed did a great job! Thank you so much for explaining things to her so well! To: Soundsensitivity
