Guest guest
Hey all, I was reached out to by Gail Deutsch the producer behind the misophonia ABC 20/20 piece Monday. She had liked the visual appeal of the youtube video " Dramatization of Misophonia " I had posted a while back. We talked further and she decided she wanted to shoot. They had their west coast producer Harry working the shoot. Great guy with some fascinating stories (I encourage you to read about h Priebke) The story they wanted from me seemed to be around Misophonia's effect on my close personal relationships. In particular the person who has to spend the most time with me, my business partner and best friend Danny. I didn't sleep much intentionally last night so I'd be more irritable. The filming in a public place was difficult. As with most of us, I naturally try hard NOT to show such public distress, especially in the workspace, which made it hard to force myself to listen to noises in a " setup " situation. Needless to say the point was to visually show the emotional reaction. With our consent, they kicked it up a notch and had my business partner chew with his mouth open in a quiet conference room (something he's been trained so well not to do that he had trouble at first). I lost it. Trying not to show physical rage I broke down emotionally. It was a difficult morning...putting myself out there like that with something that I've been so private about. This inner demon. Whatever visual footage they got, if they decide to use it and tell my story, I hope it helps bring a deeper emotional connection to the show and the impact Misophonia has on individuals. Harry said they had pretty much wrapped production until they decided to come out and shoot here today, and they may rework (or not) the story accordingly. They did not tell me when the show would be released, only that Misophonia is only one of a few segments in the hour long piece. Thought it would be worth updating all of you guys. Stay strong today. Find the positives, make the most of them. Yours truly, Josh
