Guest guest
ellen, How long were you on Diflucan and Sporanox? You have to be on them for at least three months for them to be an effective treatment. And it sounds to me like your problem is yeast because your story closely parallels mine. I'm 7+ months pain free after oral antifungal therapy. Robin RE: (no subject) >>Date: April 21, 1999 >> >>Hello iam nwe to the group and having trouble getting on. Guest guest
Hello! I finally got to post on the list! hooray! Thanks Donna for your welcome. Thanks also to Sandi keep up the direct Email! Also to Joanne. I have had irritation, pain, discharge for 2 years now.I have been diagnosed with vulvodynia. But I have positive C.albicans every other month. So the real problem seems yeast. I have been on numerous medications but it returns. I also had an allergic reaction to Monistat. Have had : Diflucan, Sporanax, Boric Acid, Mycostatin, Terazol etc. Also creams such as Mycolog,Temovate etc.. My problem seems to be reaccurant infection and irritation?allergy tothe meds. 6 years ago I went through the same thing for 1 year. Both these started with antibiotic use followed by yeast. Prior to this I never had one. When it went on and on they called it vulvodynia. Went on trycylics. Bad side effects I cant tolerate. I stopped it now. Its hard to condense all this but I have been through the same thing and look forward togiving and receiving support. Thanks, ellen RE: (no subject) >>Date: April 21, 1999 >> >>Hello iam nwe to the group and having trouble getting on. Guest guest
Hello again. I just thought I would add I really can relate to painful sex, not being able to wear certain types of clothes, problems?pain urinating etc. I forgot to write in my previous post that last time I went through this I finally end it with a BV type of infection (mobiluncus). I did have yeast but of course it did not help this. All the time I tested and cultured negative.Once it showed up I had the right medicine (cleocin) I was completely normal in ! week. All this after going through A vulvodynia diagnosis. I wonder how many others are suffering from hidden infection. I read Robins success story and could relate. I do go to a specialist in Hartford, CT. I seem to even baffle him. Write soon ellen RE: (no subject) >>Date: April 21, 1999 >> >>Hello iam nwe to the group and having trouble getting on. Guest guest
Hi Robin, I was only on Diflcan 1 week. The last med I had was Sporanax 100mg. for 10 days. I too think I need it longer. My Dr. wont treat unless positive culture etc. How do I ask for long term antifungals? I am better but not cured. I had the med in February.March was negitive but I had lots of cell sloughing irritation he said due to the med. Now i go back June 1. Either i still have yeast and it is not showing yet or maybe my skin is just still healing I do believe my problem is yeastits what caused all of this ellen RE: (no subject) >>>Date: April 21, 1999 >>> >>>Hello iam nwe to the group and having trouble getting on. Guest guest
, I also had recurrent bladder infections as a child from about four until about 3 years ago. No one could figure out why I kept getting them. I was in and out of hospitals with nothing. I still don't know the cause of them but I have discovered what it takes me to stay bladder infection free and have not had one since 1995. I completely understand what you have been through. Hope you can find the help you need. Carley At 07:25 PM 5/5/99 -0700, you wrote: > Ok everyone here is my story.... (yea, right!) >And not sure what to do next. Guest guest
So Carley, What did you have to change to become symptom free? So happy for you and hope I can go one day say it has been years since I have had one. Guest guest
Hi , I had the same experience as you. My burning intensified and I had to stop taking the Birth control pills. I haven't tried the yeast treatment yet, maybe that would be the next thing to try. Did you take the Diflucan, and if so how much, how long? I realize we are all different and I have had VV for at least 6 years. Thanks Darlene
Guest guest
Darlene/All, I took BCPs for a short time during my vulvodynia nightmare. They made the burning much worse. I'm sure they just fed all the yeast in my system. Robin Re: (no subject) From: DRUBIN0726@... Hi , I had the same experience as you. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I just wanted to thank everyone who replied back to me about my thesis research. I will let all of you know more about it when I am able to work out the details. At least now I know that I will have participants and I can go ahead with the plans. For anyone who did not get my original message, I am a vulvodynia patient who is also doing a thesis on the communication and coping strategies couple use to deal with changes in their sexual norms when things such as IC, VV, Vulvodynia, Endo, etc become a part of their lives. If anyone who did not reply back to me would like to participate in an interview or questionairre sometime next Jan. or Feb, please let me know. I havn't worked out all the details yet, but I need to know how many participants I might have. Thanks so much, Aimee
