Guest guest
My name is Jill, I'm 27 years old and I have suffered from severe anxiety and internal rage associated with the sound of people eating since I was about 7 years old. I have been to numerous doctors and therapists who have said anything from I'm " just doing it for attention, " to diagnosing me with OCD, to prescribing me Zoloft for an anxiety disorder. By the way, I've been on Zoloft for the past 11 years and guess what, I still want to kill someone if they are chewing gum near me or move my seat at the movie theater 10 times until I'm not near anyone eating popcorn. I've even tried hypnosis to no avail. I've had to structure my entire life around this problem and have spent countless hours crying and wishing I could just be normal. In general, this is a big secret as I've been too embarrassed to tell people that I feel like I'm going to burst when they eat around me. Most of my close friends and family members who do know about it will try to be sensitive, but they will still laugh and joke like, " Oh I better spit out my gum before Jill gets upset! " But it's not just upset or annoyed. I feel like I want to die. So yes, I would appreciate if you'd spit out your gum.
