Guest guest
I looked at the website but don't understand--what do they do? I mean, how is it supposed to help? It says without magnets and stuff, but what makes it work? Why not just tie some ribbon around your head? The website isn't very clear on what the technology is that is supposed to help. --------------------------------------------------------- ♥ " Hope is more than a word; it's a state of being. He told me it is caused by swelling in the brain. He invented and has a patent for muscle wrap bands for wrists, legs, arms, head and waist that give most people some relief from pain within 10 minutes. I've seen them work for pain. Well, he told me to try the size band that fits around the head and that if I run my fingers down a chalkboard I would feel no discomfort. I didn't do the chalkboard experiment but I did start wearing the head band. Initially I had a slight headache. After that I hardly noticed the sounds that previously annoyed me. Note: my case is not as severe as some...I am more annoyed than raged by sound. His website is www.sportsbands.com Also, a little disclaimer. I wrestled with posting this because he asked me to be a salesperson. But, I did not want to withhold information that may help someone. Also, if you buy from the website, there is a slim to zero chance I would benefit. If this post gets eliminated, I understand.Just being honest and hope to help. Guest guest
I'd love to know if these help. Interesting theory about the brain swelling. I am hesitant to order one so i'd love to know if anyone else does. Anne > > I explained this condition to the inventor of a band for pain. Guest guest
Anne, I thought the theory of brain swelling was interesting, also. At first I thought he was simply guessing, but he continued to talk and said something about how the swelling affected the connection to the ear. Sorry, I can't explain it. The only reason I asked him about this is because he bragged that he could see what is wrong with anyone's body and have a solution. Strange, I know, but so are many other inventors. > > > > I explained this condition to the inventor of a band for pain. Guest guest
I know what. Rub a bit of snake oil on your forehead, and your sound sensitivity will go away completely. Hi Diane, How many hours a day do you have to wear the headband? Do the sounds not bother you even after you take off the head band? How long do you have to wear the band to remove the swelling (days, months, years)? Will the swelling be removed permanently after that? or is it likely to come back again? At $25, it might be worth a try... Thanks, jt To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 10:00 AMSubject: Sounds kooky but works I explained this condition to the inventor of a band for pain. Guest guest
Hi jt I usually wear it in the evenings and overnight. I have no idea how long one would have to wear the band in order to remove the swelling. Since the band was not designed for how I am using, I am not completely sure if it is permanently removed but my guess is probably not. In the last week or so I forgot about using it and my symptoms started to slowly return. This is simply something I am experimenting with so don't have many answers for you. > > Hi Diane, >  > How many hours a day do you have to wear the headband? Do the sounds not bother you even after you take off the head band? > How long do you have to wear the band to remove the swelling (days, months, years)? > Will the swelling be removed permanently after that? or is it likely to come back again? >  > At $25, it might be worth a try... >  > Thanks, > jt > > > ________________________________ > > To: Soundsensitivity > Sent: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 10:00 AM > Subject: Sounds kooky but works > > >  > I explained this condition to the inventor of a band for pain. Guest guest
This is very curious, but glad it's making a difference for you. It's strange that it could reduce swelling of the brain when the brain is protected by the skull. Maybe it's acting by pressing on a particular nerve or something. How do you wear it? - like a hairband to hold your hair back, or a sweat band? Guest guest
Something too good to be true, as in a headband for misophonia, a copper bracelet for arthritis, shoes that make you lose weight, etc., are sold to desperate souls who want a quick cure. I try to keep an open mind in hopes that the rare yet successful quick fix comes along, but years have taught me that there is a reason they are dubbed "miracles". Beth I am simply relaying my experiences on this board in hopes that it may help someone but I will say one thing in response to your childish statement:"Give me your snake oil!" > > > Hi Diane, > > > > How many hours a day do you have to wear the headband? Guest guest
I think it may be better to put the money you would spend, into an account for now and consider donating directly to misophonia research. Please do not post things like this on the site. I will not remove it but it must stand and serve as a bad example of use for this space. This is one of those areas I have warned about before, EVERYONE is going to want to jump onto this bandwagon ASAP. (all of you!) Several 'sufferers' have already written books about the subject....and tried to get me to advertise them here. You see, this is a marketing dream for some people, the whole publicity fuss and more, they want to profit from all of you. Don't let them. Guest guest
With all due respect, I think the necessary " kookiness " warnings have been duly addressed. Just like TRT, CBT and white noise generators are NOT cures, if wearing a rubber band around my head will provide me with some relief, I'm all in. We'll never know until we try. I would be one to say that NFB absolutely won't help with Misophonia because it didn't work for me. Apparently it IS working for some and it costs a heckuva lot more than a headband (as do the generators, TRT and CBT). The side effects are almost certainly less than the psych meds being discussed too. As long as the board has it's legal butt covered with the proper " this is not intended to diagnose or treat . . . " which I'm sure is in place somewhere, and as long as we are all respectful, I see nothing wrong with trying something like moldy bread to cure infections and baldness cures used for smoking cessation. Thank you for allowing me my .02 > > I think it may be better to put the money you would spend, into an account for now and consider donating directly to misophonia research. > > Please do not post things like this on the site. > > I will not remove it but it must stand and serve as a bad example of use for this space. > > This is one of those areas I have warned about before, EVERYONE is going to want to jump onto this bandwagon ASAP. Guest guest
To Adah I joined this board after watching the 20/20 but am familiar, from other areas, with the original poster in this thread. I agree with you....we SHOULD try some things and not simply write them off. It is unfortunate that the original poster, Diane was removed from this group . Guest guest
How do you know she was removed? I didn't see that anywhere.I'm still waiting for answers to the questions I asked in this thread.. I guess nobody has them, though. --------------------------------------------------------- ♥ " Hope is more than a word; it's a state of being. It's a firm belief God will come through.
