I have had panic attacks too. They occur when I feel I cant remove myself from a situation such as in a classroom during lecture. I have exited several situations in full blown panic attacks because I let the anxiety build up instead of leaving right away. i got a panic attack on friday from sounds i was hearing, has that happened to anyone else?

I have had plenty of panic attacks, but I don't think my sound issues have

triggered them. when I have a panic attack, I feel hopeless & scared. When I

hear a trigger, I have rage and mean woman comes out! Opposite emotions for me.

Yes I have had anxiety or panic attacks when triggered repeatedly and no means

of escape.

Being reduced to tears, rocking back and forth, punching inatimate objects, etc.

I mean, the best thing you can do at that point is get away from the triggers,

take a walk outside, clear your head.

I actually feel anxiety and panic as well. As soon as I hear a trigger sound, I feel the anxiety build and I have to leave the room. Nothing else helps.

I get panic and anxiety before anger with noise. It only buils to anger if I

cannot get away from it. My main problem is I get anxiety before I hear noise

even when there is none there but might be. Just the anticipation of noise can

set it off. For example I live in an apartment. When I come home from work I

hold my breath praying my neighbors are asleep the entire drive home. If I pull

in and see their lights on there goes the panic attack even if they are being

quiet. I have to sneak into my apartment and stand there listening for the

cliking of pipes or footsteps through the walls. If I hear nothing then I can

sigh in relief...a little. If I hear noise then I am upset the rest of the

night. If its really bad I take loads of Melatonin to get to sleep and crank on

the white noise headphones over my ear plugs.

,

When you become anxious before you hear a trigger, you're experiencing

hypervigilance. It's a state of hyperarousal and being on guard. A therapist

explained it to me. I experience it all the time. I anticipate hearing my

triggers and I'm constantly looking for an escape route from where ever I am. I

think of it as self-preservation. We're all dealing with this the best we can.

I have the same reaction to anticipated noise. Three years ago, we had renting neighbors next door who had no idea (or didn't care) how intrusive they were. The kids would be screaming in the pool all afternoon, their beastly dog barking and clanging his leash against the pool rail, car doors slamming, father yelling to "get the h___ in this house---NOW!", radio playing -- it was sheer hell.I dreaded sunny weekends, summer vacation, and school holidays. Just the sight of their cars in the driveway would set me off. I wanted to scream "Can't you take those kids somewhere?" If occasionally they would be gone, I couldn't relax, knowing they could be back any minute. Our solution? We moved. They are still there.
