Guest guest
oh my goodness this segment came right on time! i was at a point where my parents wouldn't listen to me anymore about how much i hate smacking on food (or slurping, or chomping, etc.)! Thanks to this now probably my parents will finally understand. anyhow, i had just come home from the movies. i've read some posts about how people can't go to the movies because they can't stand popcorn chewing or whatever. i don't seem to have this problem, usually. the sound effects are usually loud enough to block anything; however, last night i did manage to hear someone over the sound effects and i was pissed. so moving forward here, we arrived back home and i plugged in my ipod so that i wouldn't be able to hear my sister chew and then this segment came on and i was like WHOA! This is real, this is me! and yeah, blew my mind. in fact, i called my mom right and away and told her about it, because she has told me time and time again to " get over it " and i would just be miserable. anyhow, as i already mentioned i can't stand chewing of any kind. usually i can tolerate someone chewing if their mouth is closed, but sometimes i just can't stand that either. sometimes, just looking at a person chew irritates me. i remember one time it was so bad that i wanted to cry. specifically, my brother is the one who i yell at the most. before i got my iPod i would just go somewhere else and eat. my sister can also be a trigger as well. sometimes i can't stand her chewing, sometimes more so than my brother. over recent years though, I've been growing more irritated with people outside of my family circle, and it's not just chewing anymore. all mouth sounds, kill me. it varies how irritated i get, but sometimes, even a person opening their mouth can just send me over the edge. i looked up information after the segment and found that people in your family may also be linked to have misophonia, which might explain why my sister gets just as mad whenever i sing or hum. she gets so enraged. i can even be singing quietly and she still gets so angry. maybe she has it too. on a milder case, she does dislike chewing food as well, just not as much as me. no one else in my family seems to have this problem though. For all you fellow members out there, do you have any family members of yours who have this condition as well???
