Guest guest
I am pleased to announce that there were two presentations at the Amercian Academy of Audiology held in Boston this past week and week end. Drs. Pawel Jastreboff and Natan Bauman, presented in seperate sessions, I have included the descriptions here. I know the second was about the therapy approach that Dr. Bauman created and used with 10 patients. He also used some of my data for the session. This is good news for all of us as 1000s of audiologists attend the AAA conference as well as read about the sessions and it raises the joint consciousness level and as a result trickles back to the ENTs, MDs and so on. All good stuff. We are making headway here. Decreased Sound Tolerance (Hyperacusis and Misophonia): Theory and Clinical Practice Wednesday 3/28/12 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Type: Learning Module Track: Neuro-Audiology CEUs: 0.1 Description: Decreased Sound Tolerance (DST) occurs when a subject exhibits negative reactions as a result of exposure to sound that would not evoke the same reactions in the average listener. DST is the result of the summation of the effect of hyperacusis and misophonia. While at the behavioral level effects of hyperacusis and misophonia are similar, their mechanisms are distinctively different and require independent treatments. The diagnosis and TRT treatment of DST will be presented. Presenter(s): Pawel Jastreboff, PhD, ScD, MBA, Emory University Margaret Jastreboff, PhD, Jastreboff Hearing Disorders Foundation, Inc. Dr. Bauman's research will also be presented here in the next couple days, I hope. Dr.
