Guest guest
Hi Dr ,The Jastreboff's presentation sounds very interesting. Did you attend the conference and are you able to outline what the differing treatments for hypercusis and misophonia were? Were they variations on the TRT theme, or entirely different? New Therapy Options/AAA Presentations Posted by: " M " Oregon7@... anthro_pop Date: Sun Apr 1, 2012 6:02 pm ((PDT)) I am pleased to announce that there were two presentations at the Amercian Academy of Audiology held in Boston this past week and week end. Decreased Sound Tolerance (Hyperacusis and Misophonia): Theory and Clinical Practice Wednesday 3/28/12 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Description: Decreased Sound Tolerance (DST) occurs when a subject exhibits negative reactions as a result of exposure to sound that would not evoke the same reactions in the average listener. DST is the result of the summation of the effect of hyperacusis and misophonia. While at the behavioral level effects of hyperacusis and misophonia are similar, their mechanisms are distinctively different and require independent treatments. The diagnosis and TRT treatment of DST will be presented. Presenter(s): Pawel Jastreboff, PhD, ScD, MBA, Emory University Margaret Jastreboff, PhD, Jastreboff Hearing Disorders Foundation, Inc.
