Guest guest
I am allergic to local aesthetic injections. My dentist does use them, but he uses intravenous Valium which means that I simply don't care WHAT he does in my mouth and so dental treatment is able to be done. Talk to your Doc about it, it is quite a common practise and it works. Margot rsd A few Questions/Horror Hi Everyone, Sorry I haven't written for some time but have been very busy as my mum is not well, so I am trying to care for her which makes me real tired. Nothing I won't get over, thats not why I am writting, I am writting cause Tasha told me I should write, and she is right as usual )) Thank you sweet heart )) Ok first thing is does any one have healing problems when they cut themselves, or gets bitten by an insect???. Why I ask is whenever I get bitten or cut on the left side it takes months to heal instead of days or a couple weeks. It also leaves scaring as well on the surface, it does concern me as it can be any thing that scars the skin. Also I went and minor surgery and I am finding that the cut on the left side isn't healing at all, yes I know it will eventually but the problem is there is only disolvable stitches there. I am just crossing my fingers that it does heal in time for the stiches to come out, else I will have to go and get stitched again. As I said I had minor surgery the other day and I came across a problem I hopped wouldn't happen. I will start from the begining to you will understad a bit more why I wondered why this might happen. When ever i go to the dentist and need a filling, they inject novacane right, well its ok on the right side of my mouth it numbs nicely. But on the left side it feels like its numb but as soon as he tries to drill it hurts like hell like he never put novacane in at all. There is nothing he can do, so he uses acid to drill the holes, does any one esle have this problem??. Ok now here is what hapend to me the other day, if you are squimish then skip this ok.... you have been warned. Like I said I had minor surgery under local anestetic, every thing went fine the skin went numb, yes the injection hurt like hell but whats new. I didn't feel any thing when he cut throught the skin, but when he started pulling about inside I felt every single thing he did. I felt the cutting like he never injected me, it was aliving nightmare, I had never felt so much pain in my life. It was if he had gone in with a red hot poker and jabbing me with it. I thought I was going to die it was so bad, I nearlly jumped off the table, the Dr face had fear all over it, cause it wasn't normal to feel any thing. He just couldn't numb the insides, so he had to do it with me concentrating hard on blocking the pain out. Some of you already know that it made me very ill from our chat the other night, my stomach was on fire for days, its getting better thankfully but that was so scary. Now I discovered I had a fear of surgery, it gives me nighmares not going into detail but i could never have local any more I want to be put under. I don't want to go through that ever again, it was some thing from your own worst nightmares but it was real. Tasha said I should say this to every one to see if any one else has these problems, Tasha does know whats best for me even when I don't as I bottle these things up, so thank you baby )) Telling you all this has made me into a panic, shaking sweats...least its only a memory now and I can move on. Any way thanks for listening, you can contact me either through the list or personaly, as I am sure I can help in other ways. Bye for now... Hugs Dave monkeynut@... Guest guest
Hi Dave! I'm glad that your sweetheart Tasha told you to write. It was the right thing to do and we're grateful that she did. I can understand your new fear of surgery. I think that the Dr. would have closed you up ASAP and put you under before continuing. That is truly a horror story and I hope that the nightmares cease quickly. Just hearing it was horrible. I know that your medical system is different from ours (from our chat the other night), but you should have the right to choose. If you Dr. doesn't want to put you under for additional surgeries, you need a new Dr. As to the healing issue, I seem to find that the more my RSD progresses, the longer it takes any kind of wounds to heal. I also find that a simple cut bleeds profusely and takes a long time to stop. I'm very careful and try to avoid any injury. I've also found that my teeth are very sensitive, and it takes the dentist numerous shots of Novocain before I can even let him start. I also have a topical anesthesia used in my mouth before cleanings. Maybe you should ask your Dentist about alternatives. Here in the US, we do have Dentists that will put you under for that kind of dental work. You need to ask. I used to just suffer through, but not anymore. I fear that this pain will worsen the RSD, so you need to get well. If the Dr. put in dissolvable stitches, maybe you should call the office and make an appt. to see the Dr. It doesn't sound like he's taking your RSD into consideration, just the problem. As usual, I've been my opinionated, bossy type self. You aren't alone in this, and if you need anything, please let me know. With hugs and pleasant thoughts! Guest guest
Dear Dave, Had a simialar experience with my last child. I was under general anesthisia, (sp). and i woke up as he started cutting me. I heard my sons first cry and the dr. announce " its a boy " before i went back out. Needless to say i still have nightmares that will never go away. I have not had any surgery since. I am terrified of any kind of surgery, and now withthe RSD, its so likely that spot will become RSD, unless its life threating, (and even then i'd give it second thoughts), I will NEVER have surgery again. Sorry this couldn't be more positive, but i'm in the same boat as you. Love you, so sorry you had to go though all that. I love you,
Guest guest
I know that one side of my mouth has a terrible time getting numb. I had one dentist that used to joke that he would charge me for the Novocain. Once they have me open it they inject the Novocain directly into where they are working. And often. I have had 13 root canals and now I just don't even bother having the Novocain replaced at the end. I just deal with feeling the stitches being put in. It's not that bad after half way feeling a root canal. Felice
Guest guest
Dave, Yes, I have a problem with cuts healing also. I nicked my RSD leg shaving one day over 2 months ago. I thought it was infected cause it had a nice red circle around it. One night I put antibiotic cream on and it burned some. Went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night to find my whole calf bright red and felt like it was on fire. The cut has finally healed but has also left a scar. Sorry to hear about your horrible experience with the surgery. I can't blame you for fearing any surgery now, I would, too. I hope your mum gets to feeling better soon and that you do, too. Guest guest
Hey guys, is there something us with CRPS needs to do before surgery other than TRIED TO TALK TO OUR DOCTORS about this problem of not getting the numbness. I know how well my doctor listens to me about anything. I hope all you guys get a pain free time, good to talk to you all. cookie Re: rsd A few Questions/Horror > Hi Dave! > I'm glad that your sweetheart Tasha told you to write. I nicked my leg too and it is still healing 2 months old. I guess this is common. As far as surgery goes I was told that if they can put a catheter in to fool the nerves it will be a 50/50 chance of being like normal surgery. One quick note. I had run out of Mexitil, the oral form of lidocaine and forgot to get it. I have been burning so bad the past few days. I just this morning realized I wasn't taking it. fills my pills for the week so I just take what is in the slot for the time of day.(he is so good) I have just now taken one. I will let you know if the burning stops, we have a little study going here. For burning I find my compound creams to be a life saver. Hugs to you, PLEASE come to chat tonight!! Guest guest
Hi Dave PJ hre: My Dr says that rsd causes connective tissue problems .The main sumptom is a slow heal rate, tape senseitveity, anything concerning the skin(largest organ of the body)I find a topical of neosporin helps a lot,and I cover the area only when in bed the air seems to help the healing. As for the numbing up ,yes I too have this problem.I have had it explained like this.RSD already causes us severe pain in sights that have already healed or have had nothing wrong with themso when the Drs are trying normal procedures they do not take into concideration that it is the sympathetic nerves which give us the problems. This system is already in a constant atate of shock.I have spent many long painful hrs in the dentist chair and can not sem to lick the problem. The skin on my body when introduced to something that is new will just turn to water if I react to it and it will take mths to heal. Anew wrist watch put sores on my wrist which lasted for almost 9 mths.I don't have the answers but can sympathize with what your going through.Treat one symptom at a timeand good luck A friend in pain PJ - rsd A few Questions/Horror Hi Everyone, Sorry I haven't written for some time but have been very busy as my mum is not well, so I am trying to care for her which makes me real tired. It is a circle of red. I also have had a cut or something like a slice that is on my thumb for almost a year. It will heal then if I bang it or use it bleeds again. I just wear a Band-Aid all the time now on my thumb. So, yes I have a problem with healing but I do not have any ulcers. How are you holding up ? I hope things are calming down for you.
