Guest guest
I have had the shots. I would strongly advise against it. My symptoms got worse and I was a very BIG grouch. One day, you will be lucky like me and not have to worry about birth control. All of those hormones for so many years did take a toll on me. Guest guest
For birth control I found keeping really good track of my cycle and testing for mucus (an indication of ovulation) worked really well for us. I mean, let's face it, since intercourse is so painful it's not really hard to abstain for a good week and a half to two weeks in the middle of my cycle. My 2 cents, Cathleen
Guest guest
Cathleen, I am going off of the pill this week, and am very interested in using this method of birth control. Can you please tell me some more about the specifics of it? I usually have a very regular 28-day cycle (off the pill) and have cervical mucus changes and Mittelschmerz (sp?) pains, so I think I'll be able to tell about when I'm ovulating, but I'm not sure which days to abstain. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! I've had the exact opposite reaction with Depo. I have very few side effects (worsens my acne, though not as bad as Elavil did, breast tenderness--give up caffeine and use 800mg vit E to help it, etc.), and I've found it's *helped* my mood in general. Plus I rarely have periods on it, which really helps my symptoms. In general, I don't have as many symptoms when I'm on it, so I'm sticking with it. OTOH, I've heard horror stories about taking it, esp if you have problems with serious depression (though it doesn't make mine any worse) and/or blood sugar problems. And it did decrease my libido some, but it doesn't interfere with orgasmic function like Elavil did. All it does is get rid of some of the " free-floating " constant horniness I tend to get at times, which is not a big deal, as it makes me less distracted, and I can still get aroused when I want to be. Of course, whether or not I can have sex is another matter entirely, but at least if my symptoms aren't too bad, I can get aroused and come. --'--,-{@ --,--'-{@ --'--,-{@ Rosen, Tursa Web Goddess renee@... http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/tursa/ http://www.lechatnoir.com
Guest guest
Dear , I use Conceptrol contraceptive gel and have no trouble with it irritating me. If you are very sensitive or want to make sure you may want to put a bit on your vulva and see if it bothers you first. I wait a minimum of 8 hours before I douche to make sure all the little spermies are dead :-) I would like to put my $.02 in on the provera shots. I think the problem with this form of BC is that you cannot easily undo it if you have trouble with it. I considered it myself and researched it then decided against it. If I could be sure it would work for me I would do it in a second. The great majority of my symptoms are associated with cyclic pain. It would be a miracle for me but I'm scared of the down side if it didn't work. Blessings, Shirley.
Guest guest
, I take a Depo-Provera shot every 30 days. It has been a Godsend. My periods was so light yet they were really causing me some unnecessary setbacks. The pain was worse without the shots and the mess on my skin was unbearable. It felt like acid on my vulva when I couldn't wipe it off quickly. I have had no side effects at all. Sometimes maybe every 3-5 weeks I get a spot of blood and then It's gone again. No more mess!!!!! I hope to take them forever. Hope this helps, Daina (DHC1962@...)
Guest guest
, Wanted to let you know that I did not like the Depo shots. I stopped my period after being on it for a month, gained some weight. What is worse I still had the symptoms of PMS but worse. The only thing that was missing was the blood. I stopped taking it after only one shot. I stopped taking it in March and did not get my period until November. The only reason why it started is because they gave me some medicine to start it. I am against taking anything that strong. Who would think that I would complain about not getting my period!
