Guest guest
Hi friends, Colleen here. Saw Dr. Franco today. Just wanted to clarify something for those of you who may be wondering what his position on the treatment of Lupus patients is. He definitely DOES treat with antibiotics, although not Minocin. He uses those in the family including Erythromycin, Zithromax, Biaxin most frequently, but on occasion will use Doxy...he very definitely said that each case is a special case, and no treatment is done across the board without consideration for that particular situation. There may be cases where people have come to him with a past diagnosis, and he cannot find evidence for that diagnosis, and then he will not prescribe. He does a very thorough diagnostic workup before coming to this conclusion. Hope Ive helped to make this clear. I know how much a recent misunderstanding about this confused me, so for the record, I needed to get it straight. Hugs to all. Guest guest
Hi Colleen: I wonder how he decides which antibiotic to use. Trial and error? It would be hard trying to convince your doctor to use the antibiotics for Lupis and not be sure what antibiotic to request if you don't know. I find with these guys you have to know what you are talking about and back it up with some convincing studies. Some (most) of them already are biased towards pills.
