Guest guest
Hi---59 yr. old post-menopausal, vulvar-pained, FMS, IBS, /bladder interior chronically-inflamed, over-surgeried me here again. I have appreciated the free flow of information on this list so much:-) I'd like to mention this: ESTRACE ~ I'm so glad some of you have had great improvement of the vulvar skin while using this synthetic form of estrogen. For those of you unable to use it, this may help: I've found it necessary to use Estrace vaginally for several years now, due to atrophied vagina. (I found I needed to apply with fingers to get into all the nooks and crannied, too, instead of using applicator.) Estrace greatly improved the vagina, overcoming that awful " million little paper-cuts " feeling I'd had. However, I noticed the vulvar skin became irritated from drainage of Estrace from the vag. Others in my support group mentioned having had trouble when they applied Estrace to vulvar skin and some of their doctors confirmed the fact that that were " redder " than before use of Estrace. So some of their doctors have begun ordering the estrogen component of Estrace---Estradoil---to be mixed with pure vitamin E oil. This has allowed them to get the benefit of estrogen without the extra 7 or 8 ingredients which are in Estrace, several being potential allergy causers---stearyl alcohol and some sort of petroleum-based ingredient that can irritate tissue. My doctor has ordered the Estradoil/VitE for me and I'm waiting for the apothecary to mail it to me---pharmacies here in my small town couldn't mix it for me, so had to order from Grand Rapids, MI. Will let you know how it goes......Best of luck to all, LaVonne
