I have been to many over the years with zero results for me other than making me poorer and them richer. You will need some proof that what you promise is real and not quackery. This is an example. My first question is, if a few hours with Lori Hope can allow you to conquer the problem, then why would she need to help your family assist you. That tells me, as you have stated, that you have had many " bad " experiences, since you did not even read what I wrote and decided to disrespect me and what I do with your comments like " quackery " . That is too bad that your past experiences have not helped you, . I am sure that you have not been to " thousands " of psychologists and especially not thousands of Spiritual Intuitives. I also never said that " they " can't help. That has just been your experience. As far as " proof " , , I could give you the names and phone numbers of those who I have helped and you still would doubt, because that is how you are thinking and feeling right now. While I understand your frustration and obvious anger, it will be incredibly hard for anyone to help you when you are this skeptical, angry and disrespectful. You need to know that something like what you are experiencing has a similar underlying cause for all, yet, it obviously has to be taken care of on an individual bases. And each person has to choose to want to learn about what is going on and how to control it. I of course cannot help anyone experiencing this very well through email, this is not good counseling. And I most certaintly will not be immaturely and disrespectfully " ganged up " on on this site, by those who come from similar anger and skepticism. Especially when I posted this with care and love towards helping you. As far as monetarily, I do a tremendous amount of volunteer work, or charge a very small amount as this is something that will take more than just an " hour " to discuss. I live very simply and of course need some sort of monetary exchange for living expenses. I also agree that there are those charging amounts way too high and taking advantage of people, and this is in most fields of work. I am here to assist in the raising of consciousness on this planet, and you cannot do it from fear and anger, only from love and compassion. This is also the only way that one can heal. I would even receive a small amount from you at first, you can see the results and then " pay me after " . This is how much I care and am dedicated to healing fear and anger. I come from Love only and am here to help as I know how upsetting what you are experiencing can be. Perhaps you've helped people with misophonia-like symptoms, but I doubt you can find such a simple cure for real misophonia. It seems that you believe this is a purely psychological problem, but brain scans of people with misophonia say otherwise. If you are interested, you can look up the scan they did of my brain (it's under Links), and see for yourself that they show a significant abnormality in my brain. Psychotherapy has its place, but using it on a neurological condition is like fighting a lion with a paper sword. True " controlling your Mind and emotions " can make diminish the emotional fall-out from misophonia, but with all due respect, it's not a cure. Sometimes alternative medicine can help where traditional medicine has failed, but I doubt it can re-wire the human brain. I'm glad you're compassionate and are an avid volunteer, but seriously not all of us are close-minded people who have had bad experiences.(I've had great experiences with therapists just not concerning 4s, and I'm open-minded) Just simply, this is a mental disorder, neurological abnormality, and above all something that has never been cured. The people youve dealt with I'm sure weren't clinically diagnosed with actual "misophonia." I'm sorry, but kind words won't fix this. Nobody has been cured, got it? We're right to be skeptic. Clearly we're just a little angry, that's what 4s causes. You can't just come in here with blind confidence about something you know barely anything about. I know the majority isn't always right (like in Twelve Angry Men, for example) but in this case, people from all different walks of are skeptical. I'm 14. Some people are middle aged, some are from Australia. In no country has this been fixed. But, like the others said, if you really can fix this, I'll believe it when I see it. If you break a leg, it doesn't matter if you hate the doctor who sets the bone. It will heal regardless. If you are allergic to nuts, your face will swell no matter how yummy the peanut brittle. I have been to Primal Therapy, Dianetics, traditional psychotherapies, Christian Faith healers, multiple spiritual healer,naturopaths,hypnotherapists, and some who don't even fit into any category. I have dragged my family around the country, changed jobs, made huge financial and personal sacrifices for over 40 years and at 60 years old have never found anyone that has put even the slightest dent in my Misophonia!I have been told by very kind, compassionate and well meaning ( at least I hoped they were) women that had spiritual gifts and knowledge of natural remedies that they could cure me of this problem. I wanted SO MUCH to believe them. But they all let me down and never told me why or offered any type of refund. My children ate substandard food, lived in substandard homes and wore substandard clothes and did it willingly so that I could get help and be a "Normal Daddy". They are grown now and I am fine financially, but I put my family through great sacrifices so that I could get help. So if I am a little leery of someone new who offers me "THE CURE" for my problem, without, as far as I know, an understanding of what this affliction really is I am understandably skeptical.That said,as I said in my email, I would like to know what you can do that is different than all the rest. While I understand your frustration and obvious anger, it will be incredibly hard for anyone to help you when you are this skeptical, angry and disrespectful. The group would not have seen but I had sent through private emails to Lori requesting she detail her methods a little further. When she responded to the group that she would not do this publicly and all correspondence would only be conducted privately it raised concerns. As administrators we walk a fine line between letting the right people into the group and letting everyone into the group. If we were to allow all practitioners in and a chance of contacting a group like this directly, the message board would be filled with nothing bar ads for services. I don't think anyone here would appreciate that. I personally have nothing against a practitioner offering a service in the right context, hence my original email in the thread, but I am against unsolicited advertising with no backing which offers little to no benefit to the group as a whole. Had Lori been more forthcoming in any aspect of her treatment I would have welcomed her continued advice and support, but without it I don't want you all to be seen as a potential meat market. She had no intention of telling anybody how she can get rid of misophonia for you... not unless you were prepared to cross her palm with silver, however she dressed it up. She had her wise doctors outline her options for radiation and chemo and pain meds and everything that goes into such a grueling diagnosis - and she endured the treatment. I DO understand that if I see that there's nothing wrong with me that I can reduce much of the anticipatory emotional junk that comes with misophonia. I do that much of the time by staying active in research and by reaching out to help others. I am not damaged, I am not defined by misophonia: it's just an " is " . And it has made life easier - much easier. Calming myself down has helped tremendously. I think the something missing here is that Lori Hope had wise counsel in her doctors and she had treatment options. We don't. SO to tell me that you can " fix " me psychologically would be much more believable if Lori Hope herself had been " fixed " by a visit to a therapist and by believing in herself. She had her wise doctors outline her options for radiation and chemo and pain meds and everything that goes into such a grueling diagnosis - and she endured the treatment. I DO understand that if I see that there's nothing wrong with me that I can reduce much of the anticipatory emotional junk that comes with misophonia. I do that much of the time by staying active in research and by reaching out to help others. I am not damaged, I am not defined by misophonia: it's just an "is". And it has made life easier - much easier. Calming myself down has helped tremendously. I think the something missing here is that Lori Hope had wise counsel in her doctors and she had treatment options. We don't. SO to tell me that you can "fix" me psychologically would be much more believable if Lori Hope herself had been "fixed" by a visit to a therapist and by believing in herself. I am interested in seeing your methodology and talking to any Misophonics you have cured. I live outside San Diego.
