Guest guest
Funny you should ask that. I had to turn a local newscast off recently because of the guy's voice. It was too loud and high and monotone. It sounded to me like he was screaming. I realized I can't stand voices that aren't modulated or have a conversational volume. I don't know what it is, but I can't watch anything he's in. I find myself running to change the channel when certain people are on based on the sound of their voice. I can't remember who it was, but there was a man who used to appear on one of the major cable news stations that whistled his s' when he spoke that I found extremely irritating. Guest guest
So many things on TV drive me crazy... I could NEVER stand to hear W Bush speak. Also, Madden. YEOW! And some S's drive me nuts too! On one of my " daytime shows " there is a lady who makes that noise like her lips are stuck together with slime every time she talks... any whistling on TV gets muted... and repetitious sounds! Worst for me is the constant up and down of the volume! > > Funny you should ask that. I had to turn a local newscast off recently because of the guy's voice. It was too loud and high and monotone. Guest guest
I love NPR, but I cannot tolerate Garrison Keilor's voice. He does a radio show on NPR called " Prarie Home Companion " , which is done much like an old radio variety show. It is campy but fun and has a lot of witty humor, and my husband LOVES it. We would listen to it on Saturday nights while we ate dinner. Then one day, I started noticing how much Keilor's voice bothered me, and I finally had to tell my husband I can't tolerate it anymore. I hated doing that to him, but he is understanding of my condition. I have also found I can't listen to many of the talk shows and news shows on NPR during the week. About all I can tolerate on NPR now is " Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me " , " Car Talk " , and any music shows they have. Makes me sad, because I LOVE the content of the shows on NPR, but the voices are unbearable. =( So many things on TV drive me crazy... I could NEVER stand to hear W Bush speak. Also, Madden. YEOW! Guest guest
Hi My misophonia is always with female voices on TV but I must say that I cannot bear to hear this guy...s on MSNBC cable news. When he uses the letter " P " I have to run away. He makes that horrible popping sound. Just writing this makes me cringe. regards Elaine > > I can't stand the sound of Vince Vaugh's voice. Guest guest
I've noticed that Jeff Bridges ("True Grit") makes lots of mouth noises- hard for me to watch him. Brad Pitt also chews obnoxiously- but I forgive him:) To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2012 10:23 AM Subject: Do any celebrities voices bother you? Guest guest
When my husband watches hunting shows, the whispering really gets me - and 's voice and as much as I love to watch Sam Elliott, his voice hurts me... darn. LOL
Guest guest
omg, I can't believe that about Brad, you would think he would know better. : )One of the reasons I don't want to meet famous people--I don't want to know they are slobs--have bad manners, etc.! Guest guest
For me it's anyone with a loud voice...seriously, have people listened to themselves? It's like they're screaming, or they think everyone is interested in what they have to say. Also, hoarse voices... who says they're sexy?? To whom? Anyone who speaks like they should be clearing their throat constantly should see a doctor! As for anyone specifically...? The only one I can think of is Sade. Anytime her voice comes over the radio I instantly get a headache. And I mean literally. I have no idea why. Okay, thanks for letting me rant! Guest guest
Loud people are so rude. When I'm in a restaurant, there's no way anyone even a table away can hear and make out what I'm saying so why is it that there are some people I can hear clear across the room and every word they say? Even without misophonia I think they would annoy me. Quiet down, loud mouth. And why do people need to go up a thousand decibels when they're on the phone? Do they think they're talking through a can with a string coming out of it? > > > > omg, I can't believe that about Brad, you would think he would know better. Guest guest
You may have hyperacusis. http://www.hyperacusis.net/ I have it and am also sensitive to the volume voices and other sounds. Sometimes sound is so loud it actually feels painful. I only go to restaurants and stores at low-peak times. Have you had a hearing test? It might explain a lot. Guest guest
In my intro post, I said how excited to know that my hate for Nicolas Cage made sense!! His voice makes me mad. I cannot stand to watch anything that he's in. I even get mad when the guy makes fun of him on Saturday Night Live... he does an AMAZING Nicolas Cage!! > > I can't stand the sound of Vince Vaugh's voice.
