Guest guest
I get woke up out of a very deep sleep by my triggers. My husband has told me that he can see that I am in my deep stage of sleep yet if a dog barks (wort trigger at the moment), I'm wide awake instantly. However, our old neighbor used to go out and shoot target practice sometimes really late at night (we lived on a farm and the neighbor was practicing for special ops in the secret service) and my husband told me I slept right through the gunshots that were far louder than the dog barking. > > and I don't even know why I thought about it, but I was wondering what if > we played our triggers in our sleep? Guest guest
Mike, I agree with you about desensitization. I was told by my OT's that purposely exposing myself to triggers could keep me in a hyper-vigilant state and sabotage the therapy I was doing at the time. Besides, I'm exposed to so many triggers without trying that I'm already miserable enough. If I was going to acclimate to these sounds, I'd have done it by now (over 55 years). Hannibal Lechter? You have a good sense of humor. Thanks. Colleen > > > > and I don't even know why I thought about it, but I was wondering what if > > we played our triggers in our sleep? Guest guest
I'm with everybody else on this one. Dog barking and repetitive movements are my biggest triggers. I am a deep sleeper, but one bark and I'm up! My husband has a lot of nerve damage from some chemical exposure in Iraq and moving his legs seems to be the only thing to help him sleep, but it wakes me up every single night. I'm considering a larger house to have my own bedroom. Sometimes, I'm joking when I say this... but not always > > and I don't even know why I thought about it, but I was wondering what if > we played our triggers in our sleep?
