Guest guest
Hello, I discovered this group by googling the terms "noise anxiety" "noise annoyance". After reading some of the posts, I mentally exclaimed "Yes! That's me! I'm not alone!" Reciprocal support and solace seems to be what I want to exchange from this group affiliation. I am 56 years old and my selectivity and sensitivity to certain sounds seem to be increasing as I get older. To get started, I'll list some of the more acute auditory triggers that typically evoke a rage response from within: ^wide variety of mouth sounds (including, but not limited to: slurping, smacking, chewing food with mouth open, gum popping or chewing- Oh, God!)__ ^obnoxious clatter of wrist jewelery on work surface while wearer of said jewelery is typing on keyboard__ ^grating staccato sound of certain computer keyboard keystrokes (many Dell models seem particularly loud)___ ^sounds that have the following combined characteristics: unexpected (acute startle response), low frequency (therefore less likely to indentify and localize, and thus more disturbing) staccato (violent strikes)___-examples: doors shutting in adjoining apartments- especially above me__ car doors slamming unexpectedly. I current live in a ground floor apartment and at times I feel as though I am being auditorially defecated upon from the activity in the apartment above me. Enough for now, just want to say Hi. Bye for now.
