Guest guest
Hi there! Thanks for your kind welcome! My husband is totally disabled. He is sixty years old, several heart attacks, severe degenerative disc disease in his back, bone spurs growing into his spinal cord, stomach ulcers, orchiectomy(testicle removed due to vascular problems), and then in '94, he had a terrible saw table accident, where the blade jumped up (defect in sawtable), pulled in his right hand, and it mangled up his whole hand, cut off his thumb, had massive bleeding, almost died, seven hour operation, blood transfusions, etc, and then after that the RSD set in. Had never heard of it before, but wow, everyday, he has to keep his hand under a heating pad a lot, and the pain goes up his entire arm into his shoulder and neck. He was right handed too, so it is very frustrating for him. I have a lot of health problems, and so do our son and daughter, so we have had a real rough time of it since 1982. He went for a while for nerve blocks, and nothing lasted very long. He is very sad most of the time, and doesn't go out of the house except to go to the doctor's. I am 51 years old, and have angio edema, and high blood pressure, and had an emergency hysterectomy in '93 (almost hemorrhaged to death). Plus our son had a rare disease called Henoch-Schoenlein Purpura in '89, at the age of nine, and he had a bad kidney stone attack last Nov. Our daughter is 28, and has endometriosis severely, but at least she was able to have two beautiful children. Well, hope that is enough of an introduction of a rough sketch of what we have been dealing with. A whole lot more has happened, but I don't want to write a book here..hehe.. Take care all, and hope to join in some discussions and get to know some of you. I usually get on here late at night, and sometimes, it is nice to be able to chat late when my husband finally falls asleep. He has a lot of trouble sleeping. I don't get enough sleep. I handle all the bills, and my son takes care of our old cars. We are on a low income, but we believe in God, and pray each day. The doctors said my husband should have been dead back in '84! Fooled them!!! My husband has a genius level IQ, and he has taught all of us a lot! Especially our son (He is my daughter and son's stepfather). Talk to you soon!
