All:

One of our BMT providers is looking at a study for AML patients that uses an auto transplant to consolidate patients and then a potential allo further down the road.

After researching most payers will cover an auto. Now he wants to know if payers will only allow ONE transplant per patient...whether it be one auto or one allo only.

In reading more of the guidelines from several of our bigger payers I do not see them NOT allowing a second transplant.

Have any of you experienced any roadblocks of this sort?

Thanks-

Thanks so much, . I do know that plan! Everything I've looked up so far policy wise doesn't seem like they won't allow a second transplant.

I have encountered one group that will only allow one transplant per lifetime. It was a plan administered by BCBSIL for group Central States Funds. This is the one and only time I've seen it happen. Otherwise, I think all the other responses on this are right on the spot.>> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > All:> One of our BMT providers is looking at a study for AML patients that uses an auto transplant to consolidate patients and then a potential allo further down the road. >
