Medicare waiting period question

Hello,

I have noticed 2 patients who both had previous kidney transplants some years ago with Medicare at the time of transplant, for 3 years post transplant and then it termed. Now after several more years they are both back on hemodialysis (not peritoneal) and both have Medicare again but Medicare does not seem to have imposed the 3 month waiting period before becoming effective this time for either one of them. If there was a previous kidney t/p that Medicare was part of do they not have a waiting period the second time around? I'd really appreciate your help since this will affect their COB period and when Medicare becomes primary.

Thanks so much!
